Obituary: As the Lord was preparing to give us another glorious sunrise the morning of 22nd, the spirit of Mary Lou Nichols Gray slipped away to join her wonderful husband in eternity marking the end of a life well lived. Born in Great Bend Kansas to James Fitzgerald Nichols and Mary Elizabeth Emerson Nichols, she spent her childhood in Kansas City and then Oklahoma City. She met the love of her life Earle W. Gray Jr while attending Classen High School. Mary Lou attended The University of Oklahoma where she was a member of Delta Delta Delta Sorority. Mary Lou and Earle were married in 1946 marking the beginning of an exciting and fulfilling life, including long separations while Earle was serving at sea in the Navy. As a supportive corporate wife, Mary Lou was the anchor of her family during Earle's long career with the General Electric . Her gifts and talents as a wife and a mother provided the foundation for her family during multiple moves and transitions. Their last move with G.E. was to Birmingham 45 years ago. Earle retired they continued to enjoy traveling the world, visiting children and grandchildren, and their fellowship and service with Shades Valley Presbyterian Church. In addition to her parents, Mary Lou was preceded in death by her beloved husband of sixty-nine years Earle, and her sister Carolyn Nichols Bentley. Left to cherish her memory are her sister Nancy Ann Nichols Hale and extended family in Oklahoma; daughter Mary Ellen McKnight (Robert) of DeFuniak Springs, FL., Sarah Elizabeth Heckert (Brian) of Florence, AL., and son James Earle Gray (Gina) of Mountain Brook, AL; granddaughters Laura Beth, Emily, Betsy, Mary Elizabeth, Katy and Piper; grandson David; greatgrandsons Liam, Owen, Wyatt, and Cruz and her Golden Retriever Honey. The family would like to extend their great appreciation for the loving and compassionate care of Mary Lou and her family to the staff of Kirkwood by the River. A memorial service will be , 29, 2017 at Shades Valley Presbyterian Church, beginning with visitation at 10:00 A.M. in the fellowship hall, followed by a service at 11:00 A.M. in the church sanctuary. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to Shades Valley Presbyterian Church or the charity of your choice. |

Obituary: Marjorie E. Gray, 92, returned to her heavenly home, where she is reunited with her beloved husband and son on 19, 2017. Her devotion to her family and her firm believe in God supported her struggle and ultimately gave her peace. Marjorie was born to the late Henry and Ruth Jackson on 25, 1924. She was blessed with a large and loving family. She married Harry Gray on 2, 1944 and raised their son Harry R. Gray. Marjorie loved to read, play cards, and have parties. She was kind and soft spoken, and always gave her time to listen and talk to friends and family. She truly loved her church family at Valley Park Baptist Church. But most of all, Marjorie loved her friends, neighbors, and family. She will be dearly missed by her loved ones, who celebrate the fact that she is at peace with her creator. Marjorie is survived by her grandchildren, Michael (Kimberly) Gray, Shannon (Shawn Ramsey) Blount, Nicki Igoe, Matthew Gantner, and Jonathan Gantner; her brother, Clayton (Chris) Jackson; her sister, Nina (Earl) Wiggins; her great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews, and other family members. A public visitation will be held on , 22, 2017 from 5-7pm in the chapel of White Chapel located at 909 Lincoln Rd. Montgomery, Al. Obituary: L. Gray, 1936-2015, passed away night 28, 2015, after a brief illness. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Chaplain (COL) (RET) George H. Gray, of Anniston, Ala. and her two sons, Larry Gray and David S. Gray, both of Atlanta, Georgia. She was a military wife for 30 years and a devoted servant of the churches in which she and George served. Mrs. Gray was a native of St. Albans, W.Va. and grew up in South Charleston, W.Va. and was a resident of Anniston, Ala. for the past 18 years. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Saks, Military Officers Association of America and the Persephone Garden Club. The funeral will be at 1 p.m. 1, 2015, at the First United Methodist Church of Saks with the Rev. Bob Owens officiating. Burial follow at Anniston Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on from 11-1 p.m. at the church. Mrs. Gray is preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Sylvia Cox. Pallbearers will be family and friends.
