Obituary: Margaret Hines Graves affectionately known as Mue, was a woman that friends and family described as a person who encouraged, loved and was generous in giving of her many talents such as styling hair, sewing, crocheting and baking. Her cards and letters of encouragement blessed many. When needing encouragement, people often say that they still pull out her cards. Margaret was born to the late William Sonny Boy Hines and Annie Bertha James Hines in Florence, SC on 16, 1936. She attended Florence public schools. Margaret married Alfred Buddy Graves on 8, 1956, and to that union, three beautiful daughters were born. She worked diligently at several jobs before becoming a homemaker and loving babysitter. Margaret was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend. Margaret was a faithful member of New Ebenezer Baptist Church in Florence, SC, where she served in several ministries for over 35 years. relocating to Temple Hills, MD in 1995, she was as a member of Good Shepard Baptist Church and later Bethesda Baptist Church. For the past seven years shes been a member of Mount Ennon Baptist church where she served faithfully as a missionary and attended school until her health failed. God called Margaret home from labor to reward on , 22, 2015. She lived a long full life and fought a hard battle and was ready to meet her Savior. She was preceded in death by her husband Alfred Graves, one brother Leroy Hines and daughter by marriage Alfreda Richardson. Fond memories of Margaret Hines Graves will be forever cherished by her children, Altowese (Don) McLendon, Ernestine Tina (Donald) Griffin and Annie Ruth Graves; grandchildren, Brittney (Sylvester) Washington and Alexis Griffin; grandchildren by marriage, Monique Edelin, Tammi Adair Philson and Debbie Spencer (and their children). Great-â€granddaughter, Hannah Gabrielle Washington whom she requested to see daily, but would always jokingly say, I know shes not going to pay me any attention. Her loving brothers and sisters, Dorothy Williams, Alice Smalls, Robert (Peggy) Hines, James Hines and Geraldine (Clement) Meaux, who she liked to call her oldest daughter. One sister-â€in-â€law, Barbara Hines. Two uncles, Lenon (Lizzie) James and Freddie James and one aunt, Mildred James. A host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. In addition, even though Margaret loved all of her family and friends, she wouldve liked for us to acknowledge the following people who were extra special to her ~ Mary Taylor, Shirley Wilson, Shirley Brockington, Carolyn Paige, Linda Paige, Mamie Scott, Geraldine Goines, Carolyn Hodges, Janie Mae Douglas, Annalisa Lee, Allen McGill, Goddaugter Courtney Campbell, Tomie Jackson, Anthony Cade, the McClesters, Dot Eagleton, Susie Fields, the Campbells (Florence), the Al-â€amin-â€els, Dena Hines, Toree Griffin, James Bynum, Mabel Gaither, Ida Green, Willie and Adrienne, Missionaries and friends of Mount Ennon Baptist Church, Daughters for a Day, Crescent Ridge Adult Day and her beloved great granddog, Romeo. |

Obituary: John Wesley Graves of Waldorf, Maryland passed away on 17, 2015 at the age of 66. John worked for Chaney Enterprises for 25 years and he also worked for Long and Foster for more than 30 years as a realtor and licensing instructor. He was the son of the late Harold and Edna Graves. He is survived by his loving wife Linda of 40 years; daughters Kristi Donovan (Ryan)of Fairfax, VA, Susan Patterson (Michael) of Baltimore, MD, and Judy Campanella (Nicholas)of Sykesville, MD; grandchildren Paige, Juliet, Vincent and Genevieve and brother Ridgely Graves of Mechanicsville, MD . A visitation will be held at the Huntt on 22, 2015 from 4 to 7pm. There will also be a short visitation on 23, 2015 from 10 to 11am with the funeral service to begin at 11am at the Huntt . Burial will take place at a later date at Maryland Veterans Cheltenham, Maryland. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Diabetes Association at www.diabetes.org or National Parks Conservation Association at www.npca.org. |
