Obituary: Fred Douglas Gunnels was born on 25th, 1935 in Columbia Co, AR to Ernest and Ruth Gunnels. He transitioned from his earthly home to his heavenly one on 12, 2015. He was a kind and gentle man with a giving spirit. He was a long-time resident of El Dorado, AR moving to Hot Springs, AR. in 2007. He loved his church and pastors in both areas. He was a member of the Diamondhead Community Church. He exercised his God given "gifts" in many ways and touched many lives. He was a barber in El Dorado for 31 years. retiring, he volunteered at the family crisis center, stocking shelves and preparing boxes of food for distribution. He received the appreciation award at the annual banquet dinner. He enjoyed gardening but seemed to give more than he consumed. He loved roses and cultivated plants for transplanting. Lawns in four states are populated with "Fred's roses". He was an avid Razorback fan for 50 years. Never giving up on his team - win or lose. A little known gift of his was to remember past players and the games; their abilities and past performances. Finally, pets instinctively and immediately liked and trusted him. His latest friend, Rico, was a rescue dog. formed a bond that can never be broken even in death. Fred lived his daily life practicing the golden rule. He was predeceased by his wife, Doris Nelson Gunnels and his parents. He is survived by a brother, Donald Gunnels and his wife Jerry; and by a sister, Dr. Janice Gunnels; two nephews, and their families, Will Gunnels and Susan, Tim Gunnels and Kelly; two nieces, Vickie Richard and Todd, Diane Dotson and William; also, his "adopted" sister, Elaine Moore and a special friend, Judy Halpin; and Rico. services will be held at 11:00 a.m. , 14, 2015, at Diamond Head Community Church in Hot Springs with Rev. George McCoy officiating. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. prior to the service. Burial will be at 3:00 p.m. at Arlington Memorial Park in El Dorado under the direction of Youngs Directors. |

Obituary: Johnnie Lee Gunnell passed away peacefully morning 19, 2016 in his lifelong hometown of DeWitt, Arkansas. He was 84 years old. He was born in DeWitt on 4, 1932, the first child of Johnnie Clarence and Louise Wright Gunnell. He was a graduate of DeWitt High School and received a Bachelor degree in Business Administration from Arkansas Polytechnic , now Arkansas Tech University. He served in the U.S. Army from 1954-1956, which included a tour in Germany. His work career included Universal CIT Credit Corporation in Little Rock. In 1959, he returned to DeWitt and married Barbara Cochran. He worked for the U.S. Postal Service during this time. Later he worked with DeWitt Shoe Corporation as office manager. He purchased a retail package store, Sportsman Liquor, which he operated for twenty years. He retired in 1998 after ten years with the Arkansas Department of Corrections - Cummins Unit as inmate grievance officer. He was a member of the American Legion, Veteran of Foreign Wars, a past president of DeWitt Rotary Club, and a member of DeWitt First United Methodist Church where he had served on numerous committees. He enjoyed the outdoors - hunting, fishing, and back yard vegetable gardening. He also enjoyed reading, sports, and music. He had an outgoing personality and was a wonderful friend, as well as a devoted family man. He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, John Gregory Gunnell. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Barbara; a daughter, Lee Ann Dietz and husband, Alex, of Heber Springs; son Steven Gunnell of DeWitt; granddaughter Rachel Gunnell; grandson Seth Gunnell; great-grandson James Kyle Deuce Ackerson II; step grandson, Donnie Dietz and wife, Christy; step-granddaughter Krysti Meins and husband, Chad; step great grandsons Donnie Trey Dietz abd Ethan Dietz; a brother, Clarence Gunnell and his wife, Dottie of DeWitt; and nephews, John Howard and wife Linda, and Jeff and wife Michelle; and numerous cousins. Pallbearers are John Howard Gunnell, Jeff Gunnell, Seth Gunnell, Donnie Dietz, Shawn Feemster, and Ryan Long. Services will be held at the First United Methodist Church in DeWitt with Reverend Tony Hill officiating at 2 p.m. , 21. Obituary: Irma Eisinger Gunn was born on 14, 1919 in Hohenau, Austria, a small town near Vienna. She was the youngest of 7 children. completing school and working in Austria for a few years, she moved to Manchester, England, where she rode her bicycle to work and then delivered milk in an electric van. While there, she met her future husband, George Gunn, of Mt. Pleasant, Tx., who was serving in the Air Force during World War II. were soon married in the Church of England in Manchester on 3, 1945, and Irma moved to the United States with George and their son Peter after the end of the war. lived in Arkansas for a few years before moving to Walden, Colorado, where they raised their family of five children: Peter, Mary, Jo, Sharon, and Annette. George and Irma were married for 64 years. Though small in stature, Irma had a big personality and a warm smile, and she made friends wherever she went. She loved food and cooking, and always welcomed guests to share in their meal, which included plenty of down-home food, homemade bread - and always - one of her homemade desserts. Her favorite German foods were often on the menu. Christmas was not complete without Irmas famous vanilla kipferl cookies, and she gave a batch to all of her children for many years. She will be dearly missed by her children and extended family, and her many friends in Walden, Co., Fort Collins, Co., Hughes Springs, Tx. and Cove, Ar. She was preceded in death by her husband, George Gunn, in 2009, son Peter Gunn in 1980, her parents, Moritz and Josephine Sax Eisinger, and all of her siblings: Jacob, Frieda, Annie, Ida, Ignaz, and Oscar. She is survived by 4 daughters and two son-in-laws: Mary Gunn, Jo & Jack Reed, Sharon Shook, and Annette & Dean DeGroot; Grandchildren & spouses: Jerry Gunn, Shannon & Jamie OLeary, Alan & Donna Sage, Tanya Hixon, Eric & Sarah Donley, Justin & Jeannie Shook, Felicia & Brian Ball, Cody DeGroot, Cory DeGroot and 19 great grandchildren. Irmas family is very grateful to Sharon Shook, who moved to Cove to live with and take care of her parents in their later years. Special thanks to Rosella Manasco Brown, who has been a dear friend over many years and visited, called, shared afternoon coffee, and filled in to take care of Irma when help was needed.
