Obituary: Steven A. Groves Yarmouth - Steven Groves-beloved father, brother, son, and friend-passed away peacefully at his home Morning, 25th, 2015. He was born in Dover-Foxcroft, Maine, and shortly thereafter moved to Tolland, Connecticut. Rich Bowering, his neighbor and friend growing up in Tolland, remembered Steven as a legendary athlete that every kid who ran looked up to and idolized. Steven graduated from Tolland High School in 1975 and as an all-star athlete won states in the 880 and set school records in the 440, 880, mile, and 2-mile (and still holds school records today). high school, Steven enlisted in the Coast Guard, where he served in Alaska, Virginia, and Massachusetts for 4 years. Following his service, he went to school and earned a degree in civil engineering. He worked for the city of Portland and then Sebago Technics for the past 20 years. In 1996, Steven moved to Yarmouth, where he had spent childhood summers in his familys camp on Cousins Island. He built a home on the island, where his two boys grew up. Although he loved to watch his kids play from the parents bleachers, he preferred the view from the coachs sideline. And if there was a field trip, you could count on him coming. He loved his kids and often said hey e much smarter than me. Maine was the perfect place for Steven. Whether it was hiking Bradbury, sailing his boat on Casco Bay, cross country skiing Twin Brook, or taking a scenic motorcycle ride down the backroads, he was always ready for the next adventure. He loved going out with friends, listening to music, and telling stories. A good story was always told more than once, he would say, and his story will be told over and over again. Steven is survived by his sons, Benjamin and Kyle and their mother, Paula Groves; and his sister, Karen Mokarzel, and his niece Danielle and nephew Joshua Mokarzel, and his brother, Carl Groves and his wife Leslie, and his nephew Samuel. A time of gathering and visitation will be held on 30, 2015 from 5 - 7 PM at Lindquist , One Mayberry Lane, Yarmouth, ME 04096. A funeral service will be held on 1 at 11:00 AM at First Parish Congregational Church, 116 Main Street, Yarmouth, ME with burial following in Cousins Island , Cousins Island. Obituary: AUBURN: Linda A. Groves, 70, of Auburn passed away peacefully morning at the Hospice House in Auburn. She was born on 30, 1944 the daughter of the late Howard and Noella (Breton) Groves. She lived and attended school in Auburn and worked at Pathways for many years. She enjoyed her family and her friends at Bolster Heights, where she resided and always had a big smile for everyone. Linda loved playing games and spent many hours doing crafts that she shared with family and friends. Linda was always interested in her cousins families activities, especially sporting events and family gatherings during holidays and special occasions. She enjoyed her trips to Florida, attending Pine Tree Camp in Belgrade and her trip to Ship Ahoy in Boothbay. Linda was also a long time member of Sacred Heart Church in Auburn. She will be missed by all who knew her. Linda is survived by her cousins; Irene Bureau and her husband Normand, Pauline Penley, Joseph Breton and his wife Irene, Doris Conley, Nancy Reed, Donna Forgues and Leo Groves. The family wishes to thank Bolster Heights Facility, the countless caring staff (too many to name) who took care of Linda on a daily basis, and to especially thank Ina, Donna, Sue, and Louise for all they did for Linda while she resided there. A special thanks also to Dr. Lise Cloutier, Dr. David Burke, and Dr. Thomas Hattan and of course the Hospice House of Androscoggin and Hospice who provided care and compassion for Linda and her family. Obituary: Caroline Rancourt Groves, 84 Yarmouth \ Caroline Rancourt Groves, 84, of Yarmouth passed away on 24, 2012 at Maine Medical in Portland. She was born in Solon, ME on 10, 1927, the daughter of the late Frank and Martha Rancourt. Caroline grew up in Solon and graduated high school in 1945. She then attended the University of Maine and graduated to become a Economics teacher. She met her husband, Franklin, at an alumni dance at UMO. Caroline and Franklin lived in various places: Lubec; Dover-Foxcroft; Erie, PA; New York City; eventually settling in Tolland, CT where she taught middle school home economics for over 20 years. Caroline received her Masters degree at the University of Connecticut (Storrs) in 1974. Her passion for cooking and sewing flourished in her -Ec classes. She enjoyed her neighborhood walks and her flower gardens. Caroline and Franklin spent every summer at camp on Cousins Island where they eventually retired. There she enjoyed picking berries, going for walks, sailing and boating, swimming in Casco Bay, picnics, lobster and clam bakes. Caroline was renowned for her potato salad and her berry pies. Her family history in Solon were very important to her and she shared that history with her children by telling them where each family antique came from along with a story or two. Being from Maine also meant being a Red Sox fan. Caroline loved going to her grandchildrens sporting events. Caroline was very devoted to her children and grandchildren and was a atural at taking care of everyone. She always wanted you to stay for lunch or supper and there were always homemade snacks to be had \ cookies, cake, pies or breads. She had so much patience, kindness and generosity. She will be sadly missed. Caroline is survived by her husband of 62 years, Franklin Groves; her son Carl Groves and his wife Leslie and grandson Samuel; her son Steven Groves and grandchildren, Benjamin and Kyle Groves; her daughter Karen Mokarzel and her husband John and grandson Joshua Mokarzel and granddaughter Danielle Mokarzel. Caroline was predeceased by her sister Jean Rancourt Spencer. Visiting hours will be on 27 from 5 \ 7 PM at Lindquist , One Mayberry Lane, Yarmouth, ME 04096. Obituary: Yarmouth - Carla Marie Groves, 87, of Yarmouth, passed away on 2, 2016 at Scarborough Terrace after an extended illness. She was born on 26, 1928 to Aime and Lavina Guimond of Westbrook. She graduated from Westbrook High School and worked in Portland until after her marriage to Richard Groves of Yarmouth. retiring from the Yarmouth School system, she enjoyed traveling with her husband Richard to Florida in the winter and most recently spent time at Sebago Lake in the summer, where she loved to canoe up Jordan River to the waterfall enjoying the wildlife. She was an avid reader and volunteered at the Yarmouth Library. He was born on 7, 1921; a son of Edmund and Rhoda (Murray) Grover. On 17, 1943 he married his soul mate Roseline Rose White. He worked for many years as a meat cutter for Great Atlantic and Pacific Tea Co. also known as A&P Co. William served his Country Honorably in the United States Army during WWII. William was known for being a Jack of all Trades, he enjoyed working around the house and loved fishing on his motor boat with his wife.
