Obituary: WATERVILLE - Robert (Bob) C. Giroux, 83 of Winslow, passed away 25th, 2015 with his family by his side at Mt. St. Joseph in Waterville, Maine, following a period of declining health. Robert was born 8, 1932, the son of Royal and Yvette (Joler) Giroux. At the age of 11, Robert was involved in a tragic accident which resulted in the amputation of his left leg. He attended the Pine Tree Camp in Belgrade for 2 weeks for 4 years where he learned boating, swimming, building campfires and life saving techniques. Even though Robert was missing a limb, he refused to be labeled handicapped. Robert graduated from Waterville High School and Thomas Business . While attending college, Robert met his wife, Luella Rose Bailey, whom he married 24th, 1954. were married for 52 years. Robert retired from Hathaway Shirt of Waterville in 1998, where he worked as a Computer Operator. He had previously worked at Ladd Paper in Vassalboro, Me. Robert had apartments that he enjoyed fixing up using carpentry skills he learned in school. He, also, enjoyed being with people and swapping stories. As his family was growing up, Robert enjoyed going to camp and swimming, boating and fishing. Robert was a member of the Central Maine Apartment Association of Maine and the Waterville-Oak Gem and Mineral Society, Inc. Robert was preceded in death by his wife, Luella, and his parents, Royal and Yvette (Joler) Giroux. Robert is survived by his sisters; Lucie Goodno of New Bern, NC, Jeannette Bilodeau and her husband Bob of Waterville, Shirley Aube of Skowhegan, Lorraine LeBlanc of Waterville, Theresa Helliksen of Jacksonville, NC, Esther Scott and her husband Roy of Waterville and a brother David Giroux of Bangor. Robert is also, survived by his sons; Robert and his wife Lisa of Winslow, Rodney and Richard of Winslow, Raymond and his wife Alison of LaSalle MI, Philip and his wife Debbie of Carmel, Me, and his daughters; Elaine Ferguson of Whitefield and Nancy Shores and her husband Brian of Waterville. Robert also has numerous grandchildren, step-grandchildren, great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours from 5 to 7 pm , 1st at Veilleux at 8 Elm St. in Waterville. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated , 2nd at Notre Dame Church on Silver St. in Waterville ME at 11 am. Obituary: Lewiston- Michel E. "Mike" Giroux, age 67, of Shank St. in Lewiston, died unexpectedly morning, Feb. 14, at his home. Mike was born in Lancaster, Pa., Nov. 16, 1948, a son of Robert and Betty (Garber) Giroux. His parents moved the family to Lewiston in 1957, and Mike continued through grade school, graduated from Lewiston High School with the class of 1966, and remained a lifelong resident of this community. Mike was a military veteran, having served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War until his Honorable Discharge. While in the service, as an M-14 marksman, he received the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service and Campaign Medals, a Combat Action Ribbon and a Purple Heart Medal. Upon his discharge from the Marines, Mike spent all of his working years as a brick mason. He started his career with Giroux and Sons Masonry and then worked for Charles H. Roberts Masonry for many years until his retirement. In retirement he continued to work in the business, as he was currently employed by Bellefleur Masonry at the time of his passing. Mike enjoyed fishing and was an avid sports fan, especially of all Lewiston school and community youth sports. He was a regular at the high school gym, the ice arena and at the ball field. He also gave of himself to the Elliott Ave. Little League for 26 full years, serving the organization in nearly every capacity from field maintenance, to umpiring, to coaching, to league official. He will be missed in the local sports community. Mike was proud of his son and all his family, and he always enjoyed special family times and get-togethers, especially at the family camp at Tacoma Lake. He was a loving grandfather, devoted and hardworking brother, father, and uncle who will be greatly missed. He leaves behind his son, Jared Giroux, and his wife, Jen Scappini Giroux, of Framingham, Mass.; his 6-month-old granddaughter, Julianna Giroux; his four brothers and sisters, Ron Giroux and his wife, Pam, of Lewiston, Marcel Giroux of Lewiston, Donna Giroux and her companion, Ron Laroche, of Lewiston, and Brenda Pelletier and her companion, Tim Clough, of Auburn; his five beloved nieces and nephews, Keith Giroux, Colby Giroux and wife, Katherine, Mason Giroux, Audrey Pelletier, and Tyler Pelletier. Mike was predeceased by his parents, Betty and Robert.
