Obituary: Lucille Carol (Knutson) Gorham was born 29, 1918, in rural Ute, Iowa to Chris and Leona (Lee) Knutson. She attended country school and graduated from Soldier High School. graduation, she continued her education and received her teaching certificate. On 13, 1938, Lucille married Kenneth Gorham in Soldier, Iowa. were married for 65 years. The couple lived on a farm near Dow City, Iowa for two years and then moved to a farm nine miles west of Dunlap, Iowa (Monona ). Lucille was baptized and confirmed at the Soldier Lutheran Church in Soldier, Iowa. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Dunlap and WELCA (Women of the Lutheran Church of America). She held various officer positions on the Dunlap WELCA and served on many other church committees. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star and served as Worthy Matron for two years. Lucille was a wonderful cook and was well-known for her delicious cinnamon rolls and pies. She was Norwegian and was very skilled at cooking all types of Scandinavian food. Lefse was her favorite and she loved sharing afternoon coffee breaks with family and friends. Lucille Gorham passed away on 22, 2015, at Dow Rummel Village in Sioux Falls, South Dakota at the age of 96 years, 6 months and 22 days. She had been a resident of Dow Rummel Village for the past five years. Lucille was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Kenneth Gorham; four brothers, Vernon, Clayton, Harlan and William Knutson, and one sister, Marcedus Jenkinson. She is survived by two children; Janet (Bill) Oldham of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and Gary (Audrey) Gorham of Dunlap, Iowa; sister, Vivien Knutson of Dunlap, Iowa; two sisters-in-law, Judie Knutson of St. Louis, Missouri and Agnes Knutson of Cookeville, Tennessee; four grandchildren, Denise (Stewart) Judy of Ozark, Missouri, Kristine Randall of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Chadwick (Carrie Grady) Gorham of Dunlap, Iowa, Steven Carlisle of Denver, Colorado; 10 great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends. |

Obituary: Gary Edward Gorham was born 27, 1944, to Kenneth and Lucille (Knutson) Gorham near Dunlap, Iowa. He was raised near Dunlap and attended Clover Country School and Dunlap High School graduating in 1962. He then attended the University of Denver for two years and studied accounting. On 17, 1964, Gary married Audrey Kline at St. John Lutheran Church in Dunlap. The couple moved to a dairy farm in Bertha, Minnesota. five years, they returned to the Dunlap area and continued farming. Gary was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, and he served on the church board; including being the treasurer. He also served on the Co-Op Board. The most important treasures to Gary were his wife, children, and grandchildren. Gary enjoyed raising his purebred Angus cattle and selling his bulls. He loved anything John Deere and collecting caps. Each year Gary and Audrey would camp at the Iowa State Fair for the entire fair. Gary loved watching the horse shows, horse pulls and the cattle shows; but he particularly enjoyed sharing his love of snow cones and chocolate chip cookies with his grandchildren. Gary died at his home on , 11, 2017, at the age of 73 years and 14 days. Gary was preceded in death by his parents; and daughter-in-law, Angie Gorham. He is survived by his wife, Audrey Gorham of Dunlap, Iowa; two children, Denise (Dr. Stewart) Judy of Ozark, Missouri, Chad (Dr. Carrie Grady) Gorham of Dunlap, Iowa; nine grandchildren; sister, Janet (Bill) Oldham of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; and many other relatives and friends. |
