Obituary: Lyda Mae (Van Horn) Geise was born on 2, 1938, to Harry and Barbara Elizabeth Liz (Walder) Van Horn in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Lydas dad died when she was two and her mother never remarried. Lyda was raised in Blaunox, Pennsylvania and graduated from Aspinwall High School. On 31, 1957, Lyda married Fred Geise, Jr. The couple settled in the Logan area and farmed. Lyda was very much a part of the farming operation. Fred died on May 1, 2003, and Lyda moved into Logan in 2008. Lyda was a member of the United Methodist Church in Logan. Lyda and Fred loved attending the childrens and grandchildrens school events. Lyda enjoyed swimming at the YMCA and watching any sports. She also enjoyed gardening, baking, crafts and decorating for weddings. Most importantly she enjoyed making everyone happy with her witty sense of humor. Lyda died on , 7, 2017, at the Immanuel Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska at the age of 78 years, eight months, and five days. Lyda was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Fred Geise; and all of her siblings, Harry Van Horn, Roy Van Horn, Marge De Long, Helen Cordwell, and Donna Karcher. She is survived by her six children, Barb (Dennis) Oliver of Logan, Iowa, Steve (Susan) Geise of Blair, Nebraska, Beverly (Bill) Kennedy of Escondido, California, Scott (Alicia) Geise of Rancho Santa Margarita, California, Dave (Ginger) Geise of Logan, Iowa, Diane (Dale) Rief of Crescent, Iowa; 10 grand-children; two+ great grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends. |

Obituary: Caroline Geis, 93, of Victor, passed away on , 27, 2015, at Rose Haven in Marengo A funeral service will be held 10:00 A.M., , 1, 2015, at St. Bridget Catholic Church in Victor Visitation will be held at 9:00 A.M. until 10:00 A.M., , 1, 2015, at the Church. Interment will be at Calvary in Victor. Memorials may be directed to St. Bridget Catholic Church or St. Judes Childrens Hospital and sent in care to the Smith in Victor. Caroline was born on 25, 1922, in Victor, the daughter of John and Blanche Dusterhoft Geis. She was raised in Victor and graduated from St. Johns High School. She continued her education and earned her BA from Mt. Mercy in Cedar Rapids. earning her degree, Caroline moved back to Victor and was employed by the Victor Cooperative Phone for 26 years and retired in 1984. Caroline enjoyed traveling after her retirement and was an avid fan of Iowa Hawkeyes basketball and cheering on the HLV Warriors. She had been a member of St. Bridget Catholic Church in Victor for 93 years Those left to cherish her memory are her nieces, Susan McKown of Denver, Colorado; Mary (Dan) Jennings of Long Grove, Iowa; nephews, Thomas (Linda) Olds of Denver, Colorado; John (Denice) Olds of Clive; Christopher (Lynn) Olds of Davenport and six great-nieces. She is preceded in death by her parents and sister, one Virginia Olds. |
