Obituary: Joan Siedentop Gittings, 88, of Rome, GA passed away evening, 18, 2014, at a local hospital. Mrs. Gittings was born on 22, 1926, in Dwight IL, the daughter of the late Henry Siedentop and Jane Weaver Siedentop. She was married to her beloved husband of 67 years Joseph Gittings on 30, 1947. Mrs. Gittings was a dedicated spouse and mother, substitute schoolteacher, gardener and engraver for the family business, Ford, Gittings & Kane Jewelers. She was previously active in Trinity United Methodist Church, Camellia Garden Club and the Western Promenaders Square-dance Club. She was preceded in death by parents, brothers Raymond and Dale Siedentop, a son Joseph Henry Gittings and grandson James Robert Agurkis. She is survived by her beloved husband Joseph Gittings of Rome; four daughters and their husbands: Paula (Ron) Stone of Mars Hill, NC, Diane (Robert) Agurkis, of Lincolnton, GA, Jessica (Jim) McCann of Franklin TN, and Alice(Jeff) Herring of Rome, GA; grandchildren, Michael (Sarah) Agurkis, Andrea Gittings, Jim McCann, Jack McCann, Mark McCann, Carson Shaw and Jackson Shaw; great-grandchild, Rachel Agurkis; brother, Henry (Norma) Siedentop; and honorary Gittings family member, Marion Hoskins. The family received friends at Daniels on , 21, 2014, from 2 until 4 p.m. The funeral service followed in the Griffin Memorial Chapel of Daniels with Dr. David Campbell and the Rev. David Wilson officiating. A graveside service was held , 22, 2014 at 12 p.m. (Central time) at Old Union in Jackson Gap, AL with the Rev. David Wilson officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Heyman Hospice at Floyd, P.O. Obituary: Mildred Hyman (Gitter) died peacefully in Atlanta , GA on 27,2014. She was born in New Orleans , LA on 18,1938 to the late Frieda and Morris Hyman. Mildreds life was dedicated to her adored children and grandchildren with a large heart of love. She was a life member of Hadassah and Brandeis Women and took many trips to Israel. In New Orleans she was a member of Shir Chadash, chaired the Jewish Welfare Fund Campaign in 1978, was president of the Women of Federation in 1981, and was commended by the General Assembly (Jewish Federation). She moved to Atlanta in 1995 where she was honored with the Newcomers Award, and the Gerald H. Cohen Community Development Award in 1988, and was a member of The Temple. She is survived by her four children, Linda Gitter Gerstley (Jim), Gregory Gitter (Laura), Dr Richard Gitter, and Douglas Gitter (Cathy); eleven precious grandchildren, Justin, Jillian, Kaley, and Leah Gerstley, Joel, Josh Gitter, Benjamin, Jake, Allie Gitter (and their mother Carrie) and Chase and Annie Gitter. She is also survived by her four sisters, Ethel Schnitt, Marian Jacobson, Dorothy Lobel (Bernard), and Sylvia Senter. She was preceded in death by her brother, Alfred Hyman.
