Obituary: FERRIN, Todd Eric 55 of Mesa Az, passed away 6, 2016.He was born on Luke Air Force base in Glendale, AZ.Todd was raised an Air Force brat and he loved everything military. He was a 5th generation Arizona native. He played football and graduated from Mesa High school. He was a beloved father and grandfather, and son. He will be greatly missed. He is survived by his son Eric S. Ferrin, granddaughter Alexandria M. Obituary: James Robert Ferrin passed away , 5, 2015 surrounded by his wife and family at the Sunrise Assisted Living in Chandler, Arizona at the age of 95. Jim was born 3, 1920 in Pima, Arizona. He is the third of eight children born to Ether S. Ferrin and Julia Ellise McBride Ferrin. Jim was a farm boy from Pima. He loved his family and worked hard on the family farm. He got around by riding his favorite horse, Red. high school Jim studied at the University of Arizona in Tucson and ultimately earned a Bachelors Degree in Agriculture. As WWII was breaking out, Jim enlisted for military service and joined the U.S. Army Air Corp, the predecessor to todays U.S. Air Force. Jim trained to be a pilot and ultimately became a WWII Glider Pilot. He successfully flew the invasion of Southern France, delivered his payload, and returned to his group. Then, during the Market Garden invasion of Holland, Jim was shot down and captured. For most of the next year Jim was a POW in Hitlers Germany. the war Jim returned to Arizona, then made his way to Denver, working for the Western Electric . As an employment interviewer he hired a young and attractive job applicant named Violet. It was only about six more weeks before they were engaged, and married a few months after that. The marriage has lasted almost 68 years. Jim took employment with the U.S. Department of Agriculture in the Soil Conservation Service (the SCS). The SCS job took Jim and Vi to Trinidad, CO, then to Phoenix, then to Kingman, AZ, then Safford, AZ, then to Tempe, AZ in 1966. In 1978 Jim retired from the SCS and started a new career in real estate sales, specializing in farm and ranch property. Eventually Jim wound down his real estate activities and settled into full on retirement. For Jim and Vi, this meant serving as ordinance workers in the Mesa, AZ LDS temple, an assignment they both thoroughly enjoyed, and kept for 17 years. In retirement Jim wrote his WWII memoir and self-published the work titled For Us Der Var Ist Over. Jim and Vi also became active in veterans groups, attending conferences and reunions with WWII Glider Pilots, flyers, and Ex-POWs. Jim is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He loves the Lord, the church and the restored gospel. He has served in many callings over his life, including the years spent as a temple ordinance worker. Our family thanks the many staff workers at Sunrise Assisted Living in Chandler for their professional, capable, yet patient and loving care. Jim is survived by his wife, Violet, children Eleanor Taysom (Jay), George Ferrin (Kay), James Ferrin (Margo), and John Ferrin (Angela), nineteen grandchildren and twenty (soon to be 22) great-grandchildren. Also survived by his brother, Leven Ferrin and sister, Janece Jenkins. Preceded in death by his daughter, Janet Lynn Ferrin. services will be held , 17, 2015 at 10:00 A.M. at the Beck Street chapel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at 1221 West Howe Street in Tempe, Arizona. Viewing to be held prior to the service starting at 9:00 AM. |
