Obituary: a long and happy life, John Fillmore Fowler died 18, 2010 following a lengthy battle with cancer. Born May 29, 1924 in Fayette, Alabama, John was the youngest of three sons born to Henry Lee Fowler and Elba Stough Fowler. He has been married to the love of his life, Lorain Ellis Fowler for 62 years, and leaves to mourn his loss, his wife and two daughters Marcelle Fowler Armes (Bruce), and Julie Fowler Kanner; three grandchildren, Amanda Armes Royce, John Matthew Armes ( ), and Zachary Evan Kanner; and five great-grandchildren, Aubrey Armes-Johns, Breckin Armes-Johns, Alicia Royce, Bo Royce and Ethan Royce; sister-in-law Ernestine Ellis, and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Fowler was predeceased by his parents, his brothers Allen Lee Fowler and V. K. Fowler, his brother-in-law Pat Ellis and his nephew Keith Ellis. Mr. Fowler was a member of Alpha Gamma Rho fraternity at the University of Florida, graduating with a degree in Agriculture in 1946. He taught high school in Ft. Lauderdale and later in Sanderson, where he also coached boys and girls basketball. In 1951 he joined FLECO Corporation in Jacksonville and later Rome Plow in Georgia, and began traveling internationally representing those companies. Throughout his adult life, he was also an active member of his community, serving in leadership capacities in both civic organizations and his church. a brief retirement, he worked for several years at Baptist Hospital. Mr. Fowler was a long-time member, Deacon, choir member and School teacher at Southside Baptist Church. services will be held 10:00 AM , 21, 2010 at Hardage-Giddens , 4115 Hendricks Avenue with Pastor Gary Webber officiating. Burial at Riverside Memorial Park will follow. Family will receive friends from 6-8 PM (today) at the funeral home. |

Obituary: Joseph "Joe" Ray Fowler, 88 of Lake Mary, passed away on , May 19, 2012 at Spring Hills in Lake Mary, Florida. Joe was a researcher for Gillette before retiring and a member of St.Peters Episcopal Church. Prior to his work at Gillette, Joe was a decorated United States Naval Veteran, serving as a Chief Medical Corpsman in both WWII and The Korean War. Along with his accomplished military career, Joe was also an active member in the Freemason Society and was recently honored by the Masonic Lodge #62 for his 60 years as a Mason. Joe is survived by his three children, Elizabeth Lane Benitez, Julia Lee Fowler and William Morgan Fowler, and his granddaughter Alyssa Nicole Benitez. Joe will be honored on 1, 2012 at 1pm at St. Peters Episcopal Church, 700 Rinehart Road, Lake Mary, FL 32746. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the Grace Alexander Foundation, 1223 E. Concord St. , Orlando, FL 32803. Joe was a gentle spirit who touched the lives of many throughout the community. He is now reunited with his beloved wife, Grace, and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. |

Obituary: FOWLER/ SWEARINGEN Three angels, Janet Drew Fowler, age 10 months, Rachel Ellen Fowler, age 2 years, and Richard Clayton Fowler, age 4 years, and their grandmother, Sheila Rachel Swearingen, age 53, are spending eternity together after succumbing to a house fire on 17, 2014. The children are survived by parents, Richard and Jennifer Smith Fowler, and a sister, Hattie LeeAnn Fowler, of Jacksonville, and half brothers, Johnny and George Fowler. Also surviving them is grandfather, Alva Clayton Wood, aunt, Shawnee Irene Black, and aunt, Maria Nash. Great aunts, C. J. Halle and Victoria Ness of Jacksonville, as well as cousins, Madeline Faith Deas, Charles Allen Deas, Jr., Nadine Elizabeth Black, Johnnie Nash, and Shawn Nash, as well as many other family and friends. Sheila is survived by her fiancé, Anthony Lee Banks, daughters, Shawnee Irene Black of Jacksonville, and Jennifer Lynn & Richard Fowler of Jacksonville. Also surviving are brother, Earl Carl Smith III of Jacksonville, sisters, C. J. Halle and Victoria ness, both of Jacksonville, Grandchildren, Hattie LeeAnn Fowler, Nadine Elizabeth Black, Madeline Faith Deas, Charles Allen Deas, Jr., and step grandchildren, Johnny and George Fowler.
