Obituary: “To everything there is a time: A time to be born and a time to die, a time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance. There is nothing better for a person than to be happy and do good while they live.” Ecclesiastes 4:3. Avonelle “Boots” Foster, beloved wife and mother, passed away peacefully on 27, 2015 at 4:30 PM. Predeceased by her husband, James, a veteran of World War II and the Korean War, she lived her final twenty-five years as she had lived her entire life --- loving, feisty, independent, and determined to “do it her way!” Sua Sponte. She leaves behind to grieve her passing and to celebrate her life, five children and their spouses: Yvonne (Tom), James (Alice Jean), Richard (Gwendolyn), Nathan (Pamela), and Steven (Karin); eight grand-children (Robin, Kim, Jim Jr., Brooke, Laura, Lindsey, Petrina, and Grant; 14 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. Mom was born on 4, 1914 in Marion , PA and grew up in the western Pennsylvania farm country there. She delighted in her annual family reunions in Clymer, PA, hosted by her cousins Phillis, Dan, Bill, Tim, Connie, Greg, and Albert, Jr., and their extended families. As matriarch of the Rice clan, she shared their respective family histories as only she could. The shared mutual love between Mom and her cousins and their families was a constant source of pride and admiration for her, and she treasured the memories of them and of what once was. Her burning sense of feisty independence and determination , which she passed on to her children, was forged when , at 14 years of age, her mother died prematurely, leaving her to grow up quickly and care for her father and baby brother, John. Determined to graduate high school and pursue a career as a Registered Nurse, she struggled through the Great Depression and her newly appointed family role, to walk 14 miles roundtrip to school and back, with her best friend, Hope, across neighbors’ farm lands in all kinds of weather. To her, her sacrifices were rewarded when she graduated near the top of her class from Commodore High School with her high school diploma in 1932. Her pursuit of a nursing career was put on hold by the courting and eventual marriage to James, her husband of 52 years, and the raising of a family in the midst of World War II; a struggle of love she never regretted. Mom’s final years were characterized by living independently in her own home and always encouraging, advising and availing her children and cherished friends of her wisdom. Had she not, at 98 years old, tried to wash her feet one at a time in her bathroom sink, she never would have fallen, and would be with us still, pushing us to be our best. Mom ended her 100 plus years of living, loving, and nurturing the same way she lived it --- fighting and pressing on with an unmatched joie de vivre and indomitable spirit. She is, and always will be, missed and our celebration of her life will be like the North Star, guiding us through our own life’s journey. Mom, you left this world a far better place than you found it. You fought the good fight; now, rest in peace for all eternity. As her family, we would like to acknowledge a special debt to Shoska and Pasha for all they did for our Mother. The special love, tender care and devotion you gave to her when she needed it most are very much appreciated and will never be forgotten. We would also like to thank the caring professionals at Vitas Hospice for their comforting care and support. The family will receive friends on , 6, 2015 at the Baldwin-Fairchild , 301 NE Ivanhoe Blvd, Orlando from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM for viewing and celebration of life. Obituary: Apryl Natalie Shackelford Foster, age 33, from Brandon, Florida went missing on , 12, 2015. The City of Tampa and the world embraced her as they desperately searched for her. She was found on , 22, 2015 after having a tragic car accident. Apryl was born on 1, 1981 in Lincoln, Nebraska. She graduated from Gretna High School in Gretna, Nebraska in 1999 where she received many vocal awards. She attended the University of Wyoming. Apryl moved to Ft. Myers, Florida in 2003 working at the Lani Kai Hotel and Resort, as a professional vocalist and entertainment director for over ten years. Singing on the beach was a special joy to Apryl, as she entertained thousands of vacationers and locals during her time at Ft. Myers Beach. In 2010 Apryl and her former husband, Shawn Foster were married in a famous “Star Wars” wedding ceremony. Apryl always enjoyed singing since childhood, and competed in singing competitions across the United States, while winning The American Idol Experience Competition at Disney in Orlando, Florida in 2012. moving to Tampa, Apryl was hired by the Richard Gonzmart family as they opened their new restaurant, Ulele’s in Tampa Heights. There she was involved in the training of servers and wait staff, as well as being a server, becoming affectionately known to many, as “Little Mom” or the girl with the Princess Leia Star War hair buns. She had set a personal goal to help the Gonzmart family open up their next restaurant. She loved to sing karaoke in Ybor and spending time in that area of town. Her three amazing cats “the ladies”, which she loved as much as any mother would their children, were always a source of constant joy and blessing to Apryl. Apryl will be remembered for her great sense of humor, her incredible crafting and design abilities, her talented writing skills, and her amazing singing, described by one of her follower’s as the” voice of an angel” but most of all for her radiant smile. Apryl will be remembered for her love and compassion for others and her unwavering allegiance to encourage and help those who were in need, who crossed the paths of her life. On her last night, a surveillance tape shows her stopping to give assistance to a street person. No one to unimportant to stop and encourage was her creed. She will truly be missed by her family, friends, co-workers and especially her mom and dad. Apryl is survived by her, parents, Rev. Craig and Peggy Beman of Stephenville, Texas; grandmother Eileen Beman, of Valentine, Nebraska; sister and brother-in-law, Lisa and Christopher Walker of Omaha, Nebraska; aunt and uncle Dru and Ken Sypal, of Lincoln, Nebraska; uncle David Beman, of Valentine, Nebraska;, uncle Scott Beman, of St. Joseph, Missouri, plus several cousins and Shawn Foster, former husband of Tampa, FL. Rachel and Jessica Swafford, friends closer than sisters plus the Gonzmarts and the Ulele’s staff that she also considered to be precious family. A Service to Celebrate Her Life will be held on , 28, 2014, at 8:30 a.m.on the green behind The Ulele Restaurant in Tampa Heights, Florida. A memorial fund has been established for a Tampa Heights Aboretum Project to continue enhancing the landscape of the Tampa Heights riverfront area that she loved so much.
