Obituary: Pat took the hand of Jesus and went to his heavenly family on 12, 2016. He was born in Melrose Park, Illinois to Anthony and Carrie, on St. Patricks Day, 1937. He also had a younger brother named Frank. He moved to Orlando, Florida in 1956, where he helped with the family business, the Bel Air Motel. He went to work a year later at Martin Marietta, where he worked in planning and control. Pat was proud of his work on the LANTIRN, TADS, PNVS, PATRIOT and PERSHING II programs. He retired after 37 years. He was married to Trish, whom he said he loved from the moment he saw her. God blessed him with three wonderful children Lisa (Patrick) Jackson, Sheri (Greg) Bruce, and Donnie. He also raised and loved his step-daughter Shelli. He was proud of his grandchildren Krista, Matt, Emily, Ryan and Christopher and of his great grandchildren. He was a great Pop Pop. He loved to make them laugh. He was a coach at Pine Castle Little League and Pop Warner Football. He loved all of the kids that he coached and touched many of their lives. Pat was a bowler, a golfer, and a fisherman and also worked with the youth of St. John Vianney and Holy Family Catholic Churches. He was a happy man who enjoyed his life to the fullest and never worried, he left that up to his wife! He prayed every morning for his family, friends and people he didn even know. Pat loved his family with all his heart, and he was happiest when he was sitting around a table with them, telling a joke, and eating bowl of pasta. He left us all with wonderful memories, and he will be missed. Obituary: GORDON GILBERT FORMSMA 1940 - 2011 Gordon Gilbert Formsma, 71, of Pensacola, FL, passed peacefully from this life to the next on , 28. Gordon was born in Grand Rapids, MI on 16, 1940. He and Carolyn Wendelken were married on 9, 1972 in St. Joseph, MI. He earned a B.S. in Music Performance, an M.A. in Elementary Education, and an M.A. in Early Childhood Education from Western Michigan University. He taught vocal music and kindergarten in the St. Joseph, MI school system. From 1988 to 1992 he was an Associate Professor of Early Childhood Education for the University of Kentucky Community system. In 1996 he became Director of Head Start, Escambia , a job which he did passionately until he retired. Gordon cared deeply for building up families through investing in their childrens lives. Standing 6 4 tall, he was affectionately called the Gentle Giant by Head Start Staff. Gordon was an accomplished organist and served a number of congregations throughout his life. While in St. Joseph, MI he became Music Director for St. Pauls Episcopal Church acting as both choir director and organist. In Pensacola, he took great pride in singing with Christ Churchs choir. Gordon is survived by his wife, Carolyn Formsma; his daughter, Catherine (Paul) Hoemke and grandson, of Denver, CO; his brother, Gerald (Connie) Formsma of Elkhart, IN; his sister-in-law, Carol Formsma of Coleman, MI; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Charlotte and Melvin Formsma, and two brothers, Jay and Duane Formsma. He was a good, loving husband and father and a gentle man. He will be missed. A memorial service will be held at Christ Church, Pensacola, FL on , May 7, 2011 at 11:30 a.m. followed by a reception. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to Christ Church with the name Formsma on the memo line. These donations will support the parishs community classical music concert series. |
