Obituary: Norman Frawley of Boulder, Colorado passed away , 23rd in his home. Norm was born on 1st, 1923 in Superior, Wisconsin to Norman and Norma Frawley. He grew up in Northern Wisconsin, hunting, fishing and building model airplanes with his dad and brother. He entered the Army in 1943, becoming part of the 1905th Engineering Aviation Battalion, surveying for a critical WWII supply line known as the Burma Road. the war he attended the University of Wisconsin earning a Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering. Norm and Phyllis married on 14, 1949 and enjoyed 64 years of marriage. had 3 children; Martin (daughter Alean - Marty preceded him in death in 2002), Melinda (husband Dave and daughter Amy of California), and Jim (sons Adam and Daniel of Boulder). Norm worked in WI, CA, MN and finally in Colorado designing complex mechanical structures for several aerospace companies. He earned 4 patents and received many other awards for his designs. Norm and Phyllis traveled back and forth to their property in Wisconsin until they were able to build their dream home at Bass Lake. When Norm retired they were able to spend their summers at the lake enjoying the peacefulness of the North Woods. He was also able to enjoy a hobby from his youth, building and flying model airplanes. Even into his 90s he would drive his RV and trailer to fly with the Society of Antique Modelers (SAM). When Phyllis health declined, Norm provided for her every need until she required 24 hour professional care. Norm spent many hours by her side until her death in this year.
In Norms presence you would be set at ease by his warm and gentle spirit and the sparkle in his eyes. Family, friends and acquaintances speak of him with fondness and admiration, from work, church, his model airplane buddies even to the doctors and nurses who met him during his recent bout with pneumonia. Rather than professional healthcare, Norm wanted to live as he had for the previous 91 years. He did not want to be subjected to unpleasant, inconvenient, and exhausting measures to prolong his life. Norms peace came from his belief and trust in what Jesus did for him. As was his desire, he quietly passed away in his own home. His life a positive impact on many, his presence will be missed; his faith in Christ a testimony of how he lived. Visitation will be held 9:30am 28, 2014 at Crist Mortuary with a funeral service to follow at 10am. Interment to follow at Mountain View Memorial Park Boulder.
