Obituary: Mary Alice (yanilsa) Joseph-Fryberg A Tulalip Tribal Elder passed away surrounded by her family and friends on 20th, 2015 Mary was born 14, 1944 in Mount Vernon, WA to Eugene Joseph & Alice Brown-Joseph. She lived on the Swinomish Indian Reservation up until she was 5 years old, then moved to Tulalip where she resided. She worked at Tulalip Bingo, was a caregiver for the Tulalip Elders then moved on to work for the Casino in the maintenance department. During her dedication to the 1910 Indian Shaker Church she traveled from Canada to California attending many Church services. She enjoyed following her children & Grandchildren to different reservations for the Winter Pow-Wows. Mary is survived by her Children Tina Brady of Eugene, Oregon, Odder Fryberg, Sharon Fryberg, Larry Fryberg-Scott (Clarence E. Scott-Fryberg), Joanne G. Fryberg, Myron J. Fryberg, Madeline Henry- Fryberg all of Tulalip, 26 grandchildren, numerous great-granchildren, nieces, nephews, sister in-laws, brother in-laws and cousins. Obituary: Andrew Martin Leroy Fryberg was a Tulalip Tribal member who blessed us with his presence on 10, 1999. He was a victim of the tragic school shooting that had taken place at Marysville Pilchuck High school on 24th 2014, a day that impacted all of our lives forever. a long two weeks of fighting for his life, Andrew entered into rest 7, 2014 at Harborview Medical in Seattle, WA. Andrew was such an amazing and important person to our family, especially being that he was the first boy born into our family that was filled with girls that would do just about anything for him. Andrew was known for his one of a kind personality. He was always smiling, very outgoing, being over protective and caring, being an amazing friend, uncle, brother, and son. Andrew was a natural born athlete and succeeded at basically everything he tried to do. He loved to play football, wrestling, riding quads, hanging out with friends, family dinners, watching his nieces and nephews and spending time out on the water. He also loved to take car rides with his sister Leila, as well as random rode trips with her to Yakama just to get miners. Andrew leaves behind his mother Laheen Fryberg, Sisters Tawny Fryberg (Merlin), Kiah Fryberg (Andy), Tasha Fryberg (Ryan), Josephine Fryberg (Chandell), Leila Fryberg, Brandee Fryberg. His brothers Cameron Fryberg, Nate Hatch, and Hercules (Andrew and Nates dog). Grandparents Keith and Mary Casady. Nieces and nephews; Koda, Keiara, Ladianian, Kailonna, Maleia, Bryson, Andrew and Aiden. He also leaves behind numerous of Aunts,Uncles, Cousins and friends. Andrew was truly blessed with such an amazingly large family. He is proceeded in death by his father Leroy Martin Fryberg Jr; His grandparents Leroy Martin Fryberg Sr, Ella M. Hill, Loris Puyette, Robert and Keeta Cameron; His uncle Martin J. Fryberg, Glen Mcjoe, Leroy Wyman; Aunts Dee Dee Cameron, Carmen Wayman, Donna Jean Brady, and Ladonna Fryberg; and nephews Dayson Blondin and Jordyn Moses; As well as a special friend Zoe Galasso. Obituary: Julia" Judy" Florence Fryar Our beloved mom, teacher, friend, and grandma, Julia" Judy" Florence Fryar, passed away at her home on 17, 2010, of kidney failure. Mom always had a ready smile and kind word for everyone. She loved to dance, work crossword puzzles, and made many lifelong friends. Most of all, she loved her family with all her heart. She was born Jan. 5, 1927 in Pittsburg, KS, the only child of Leonard and Lola Camilla Smith. She grew up in Wichita, but her fondest childhood memories were of the summers spent at the farm home of "Nanny", her great aunt. Mom met and married Donald Edward Fryar in Indianapolis, Indiana, and had three "#1 Favorite" sons and six "favorite" daughters. Mike & Candi Fryar (Vancouver, W A), Marianne & Tom Switzer (Yakima),Sherry Fryar(Yakima),Brian & Cindy Fryar (La WA) Sharon Kathy & Steve Lattin (Allyn, W A) Karen & Nick Potebnya (Lenore ID) Nathan & Rose Fryar (Richland W A). Daughters Linda Fryar died at 3 months of age and Patricia "Tish" Fryar died of cancer at age 12. During World War II, mom worked at a Boeing plant in Wichita, KS as a welder and riveter. Her proudest work accomplishment was working for the Post Office in Yakima. 5 years, she went from being a clerk/sorter to become the first ever woman supervisor and then the first ever station manager. She retired after 20 plus years in 1987. Having nine kids kept Mom very busy, especially in the kitchen cooking and baking. Desserts were made every night. Making donuts was entertaining and filling - an assembly line of kids. Not many donuts made it to the finish line - we gobbled them up as they passed by! Judy is grandma to 16 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren. Moms legacy is her great love for her family and her many, many friends. She will be dearly missed forever. A special thank-you to Lower Valley Hospice for the wonderful care they provided to our mom.
