Obituary: Arden Flom, age 68, passed away on 20, 2010, after a long struggle with cortical basal degeneration. Arden was born on 9, 1942 in Grafton, North Dakota. Following a move to Tacoma, he graduated from Lincoln High School in 1960 and Pacific Lutheran University in 1965. He earned an MA in Theatre from the University of Oregon in 1967, and did additional post-graduate work at the University of Denver in 1971-1972. Arden was the Director of Theatre at Everett Community for 31 years, from 1967-1998. He directed over 173 productions at the Playhouse in downtown Everett and additional plays at other venues. During his tenure, the EvCC Theatre Dept. grew to become the largest community college theatre program in Washington State. He was a dedicated educator who loved seeing those light bulb moments in his students. In addition to his work at EvCC, Arden served on numerous local and theatre-related organizations. These included the Everett Civic Arts Commission, the Everett Cultural Commission, Everett Performing Arts Board, and the Historic Everett Theatre Board. For his longtime contribution to the American Theatre Festival, in 1988 Arden was awarded the Gold Medal of Excellence from the John F. Kennedy for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C. Arden was preceded in death by his parents, Joel and Thelma Flom, brother Dean Flom and sister Connie Filcher. He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Cathy; his children, Eric (Angie) Flom of Milton, Georgia, and Kristen (Chris) Romero of Pikesville, Maryland; in addition to grandchildren Katie, Tyler and Max Flom and Ethan, Jocelyn, and Alexander Romero; sister Audrey (Fred) Bates of Port Orchard, and brothers Richard (Lynn) Flom of Queen Creek, Arizona and Randy (Cindy) Flom of Spokane. Friends and family are invited to attend a memorial service at 11 a.m., , 22nd at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 9320 Meadow Way in Everett. Donations may be made in Ardens name to the Alzheimers Association (www.alzwa.org). The family wishes to thank the friends and neighbors who have been so helpful. Obituary: .Rolanda C. Flojo \ Obituary Rolanda C. Flojo peacefully passed away at the age of 73 on 12, 2014 in Everett, Washington. She was born in Ilocos Norte, Philippines on 17, 1940. She earned her Bachelor of Business Administration majoring in Accounting from the University of the East in Manila, Philippines. Upon graduation, she sat for the Certified Public Accountant Examination and passed. In 1968, her family moved to Hawaii to be with her father. She married her high school sweetheart Julio G. F. Flojo in 1970 and both raised their three loving daughters. Rolanda was very involved in the Filipino community in Hawaii and helped with many charitable events over the years. She was also the co-founder of Hawaii Fil-American Association. She enjoyed cooking, reading and walking along the beach. She especially had a great love for music and dancing. She was a prominent member of the Hawaii Ballroom Dance Association. Rolanda worked as a bookkeeper at Universal Manufacturers for over 35 years from 1970 to 2006 and enjoyed going to work every day. retirement, she moved to Seattle, Washington to be near her children and grandchildren. She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Julio G. F. Flojo, her three daughters Joanne F. Bautista, Rosalie F. Toves and Juliet C. Flojo, six grandchildren and her sister Caridad C. Ramos. She loved life and lived it to the fullest and always was happiest when surrounded by family and friends. She will be deeply missed and forever cherished as a loving wife, mother, grandma, sister and friend. We will miss you and your beautiful smile\until we meet again. A Celebration of Life will be held for family and friends on , 25, 2014 at Purdy & Walters at Floral Hills at 9:00 a.m. for viewing and 11:00 a.m. for service. |
