Obituary: Larry Fletcher died 30, 2015 as a result of a car-pedestrian accident the previous night. Larry was en-route to a performance of the Seattle Symphony at Benaroya Hall. Larry was born 1, 1938 in Orofino, Idaho to James and Marie Fletcher. He claimed Yakima as his hometown; after high school he attended Central Washington State (then) earning his Bachelors and Masters degrees in education. He is survived by a wide circle of friends here and throughout the United States and extended family in Yakima, Washington. Then he began a 30 + year career in the classrooms of Washington. He served in Ferndale and Hoquiam before being hired by Seattle. In the summer of 1967, he moved into his current apartment and began his Seattle career at Wilson Junior High School, teaching English/Language Arts. In 1971 he relocated to Mercer Junior High and served as department chair for a period of time. He again was a mainstay of the English department. Larry moved back into the ew Franklin in 1990 and retired in 1991. Larry went back to school at Edmonds Community and earned his certification in drug/alcohol counseling and pursued this second community-centered vocation for 10 + years. In addition, he spent over 330 volunteer hours at Providence Hospital (Everett) in the Sexual Assault Support Unit. Larry was an extensive European traveler, spending many summers on the continent. His one regret was never being able to visit Egypt whose history was of particular interest to him. When such traveling became too difficult for him, he found Elderhostel to be a welcome alternative. He attended over 30 Elderhostels, primarily in the United States. The theater arts in Seattle had a strong supporter and contributor in Larry; his taste was eclectic and he shared his enthusiasm often with friends. He enjoyed his symphony concerts and other musical events. KCTS and Masterpiece Theater were also hobbies. In fact, he had just finished watching Downton Abbey on his personal copy of Season 5. He also strongly supported the Seattle Retired Teachers Association in a variety of ways. The scholarship program sponsored by that group was close to Larrys heart. Obituary: Josephine (Jo) Fletcher, 92, of Yakima passed away peacefully while sitting in her rocking chair at Englewood Heights Assisted Living on 18, 2013, where she was well known as a collector of dolls. She enjoyed having family, friends, and fellow residents visit her apartment and admire her many beautiful dolls. Jo was born 19, 1920 in Dickinson, ND, to Jerry and Albina Kostelecky. Starting in her teens she was known for her ability to cut and style hair and shared this talent with family and friends. In 1939, she married Joe Boespflug and they moved to Glendive, MT where their two sons were raised. In 1965, Jo moved to Yakima, WA where her mother and two sisters lived. She was employed by Grants Department Store and took pride in assisting women with selecting just the right outfits. In a chance meeting Jo met Larry Fletcher and they were married in 1966. Jo lived an adventurous life and enjoyed traveling. Some of her most memorable trips were to Europe, the Great Wall of China, and Hawaii. She excelled in doll making and received a number of blue ribbons at the Central Washington State Fair. She was a member of three doll clubs \ Friendship Dolls, Doll Seekers and Simply Dolls and continued to enjoy life surrounded by her collection of dolls, especially her antique dolls. She is survived by her two sons, James Boespflug of Denver, CO and John Boespflug of Tacoma, WA; six grandchildren and three great grandchildren; four sisters, Minnie Roller of Yakima, Mary Ann Hibl of Boulder, CO, Dorothy Hoornaert of Pleasant Hill, CA, Rose Marie Ulmer of Yakima; one brother , Jerome Kostelecky of Yakima, sister-in-law, Ludy Kostelecky of Spokane, WA, and a special niece, Rose Marie Tormaschy of Dickinson, ND. She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband Joe Boespflug, her husband Larry Fletcher, and three brothers Joe, John and Wayne Kostelecky. Jo was active in Catholic Daughters of the Americas. will provide an honor guard at her Memorial Mass. She was also a member of Young Ladies Institute, and they too will participate in her Memorial Mass. Jo was active in other clubs and organizations including Womans Century Club, VFW Ladies Auxiliary, and Retired Senior and Volunteer Program. A Memorial Mass will be held on what would have been Jos 93rd birthday at 11:00 a.m., 19, 2013 at St. Paul Cathedral Chapel in Yakima, WA. A reception will follow at Langevin-Mussetter , 1010 W.
