Obituary: Judy Ellen Fankhauser Judy Ellen Fankhauser passed away morning, 17, 2011. Judy was born Judy Ellen Dawson at Waldo Hospital in Seattle, Washington on May 24, 1952 to Donald Winton Dawson and Dorothy Antonette Dawson. Judy attended Immaculate Conception School, and graduated from Everett High School in 1970. Judy was captain of the EHS tennis team, drill leader of the Seagals Drill Team, Senior Class Secretary and an active member of the A Capella and Honor choirs. Judy married Dennis Allan Fankhauser on 19, 1972 at Immaculate Conception Parish in Everett, WA. She attended Central Washington University, Tacoma Community , Marycrest , and ultimately graduated from City University with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1988. Judy held many jobs early in her career but most notably worked at Boeing. She volunteered on numerous committees and organizations affiliated with Immaculate Conception School and Parish and other community organizations. Judy treasured her family above all else and loved every moment with Dennis, her kids and grandkids, as well as her extended family. Judy and Dennis loved to travel, enjoying cruising to Alaska, Mexico, Panama Canal, Central America, Hawaii, Canada, and the Mediterranean. Additionally, she enjoyed attending musicals and plays and loved gardening (especially her rose garden). Her creativity fueled her to experiment in graphic design, cake decorating, and jewelry designing and making. She also designed all of her own clothes. Judy lived her whole life in Everett and loved being close to the water. Judy is survived by her husband Dennis, her son Jeffery (Michelle), daughter Jennifer Williams (David) and grandkids Nicholas, Jacob, Emma, and Quincy Fankhauser and Nolan Williams. Judy is also survived by her brothers John Dawson (Lorna), Jerry Dawson (Sue) and sister-in-law Julie Dawson Stoddard (Dave), numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews and cousins. Judy was preceded in death by her parents Donald and Dorothy Dawson, and brother James Dawson (Julie). In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to Seattle Childrens or charity of your choice. Services for Judy will be held at 1:30pm on 23, 2011 at Immaculate Conception Church, 2501 Hoyt Avenue, Everett WA 98201. There will be a private family burial following at Cypress Lawn Memorial Park, Everett, Washington. under the direction of Purdy & Walters with Cassidy , Everett, WA. |

Obituary: William Bill Virgil Fangen, the son of Hans Peter Fangen and Mae Swalve Fangen was born on 20th, 1933 in Groton, South Dakota. He died peacefully at home on 1st, 2016. Bill attended school in Groton, and graduated there in 1952. He was an excellent ice skater and skated in Grotons annual Ice Carnival and many other local shows, often with his partner, Kay Stroh, who later became his wife. He and his partner Ralph Lundberg built a tennis court in Groton. won 1st place in several local tournaments. He was a member of the Boy Scouts and had fond memories of a canoe trip in Northern Minnesota. He attended Michigan State University where he earned a certificate in floriculture. Bill then moved to Nyssa, Oregon where he joined his brother Bob. built and operated a nursery and floral shop. In 1958 he married Kay Stroh of Groton and they started their home in Nyssa. Bill enjoyed growing things. In 1964 he accepted a position at the L T Mike Webster nursery as a grower and later greenhouse manager. He spent 31 years growing trees for reforestation and retired in 1995. Bill always had a large garden and greenhouse. His family and friends enjoyed many gifts of fruit and vegetables. His home was surrounded by flowers and trees. Bill loved to fish. For many years he fished with the family in Puget Sound and with his brother and other relatives out of Port Angeles. Bill, his son Rich, and son-in law Dan made several trips to Alaska to fish for salmon and halibut. He also caught shrimp and crab in the Hood Canal. He entertained many friends by cooking oysters on the barbeque. Bill and Kay took up skiing after they moved to Olympia and enjoyed many winters with the White Pass Ski Club in their lodge at White Pass. retirement they bought a house in Bend, Oregon and spent 11 winters skiing at Mt Bachelor. Bill is survived by his wife Kay, his daughter Lori Fangen-Gritis (Dan) and grandson Lee, his son Richard Fangen (Gina) and grand-daughter Sarah, step grand-daughter Amanda Randall. He was preceded in death by his sisters Dorothy and Donna and his brother Robert. A graveside service will be held at Mills and Mills , 5725 Littlerock Rd SW, Tumwater WA 98512, on , 14th, 2016 at 2pm. Bill was a member of The Church of the Good Shepherd in Olympia. A memorial service will be held for him there on , 20th, 2016 at 2pm. The address is: 1601 North St., Memorial donations may be sent to The American Diabetes Society or Doctors Without Borders. |
