Obituary: A GREAT GENTLEMEN Joseph Vincent Ford, age 89, passed away on 24, 2007 at his home in Elberta, Utah surrounded by his loving family. He was born on 5, 1918 in Provo, Utah to William S. and Emily Brierly Ford. He married Elvira Pyne on Jan. 18, 1940 in Orem, Utah the marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings. The most memorable, for him, being a full time mission in 1979 which he and Elvira served with the Navaho people in Holbrook, Arizona. Joe grew up in Orem and lived there until 1972 when he moved to Elberta. He served in the Army during WWII returning home Christmas Eve 1945. He retired from US Steel in 1977 with 33 years of service as a machinist. He is survived by his children: Joe (Elaine), Lehi, Utah; Jane (Don) Robertson, Marion, Utah; Jim (Gloria), Elberta, Utah; Shirley (Ron) Brereton, Orem, Utah and Bill (Cindy), Elberta, Utah; three brothers, Dean, Mont and Phillip and one sister Melba Mecham. He was preceded in death by his wife Elvira and a granddaughter, Connie Robertson; his parents, William and Emily; 3 brothers, Leo, Elwood and Don and a sister Norma. He has 24 grandchildren, 69 great grandchildren and 14 great- great-grandchildren Joe will be remembered as a good man of goodly parents, who believed in and practiced the Golden Rule. In his life he truly did unto others as he would have them do unto him. services will be held at 11 AM on 28, 2007 in the Elberta Ward Chapel. Obituary: JoAnne Chidester Ford, 84, was called home on 2, 2015 and took a piece of our hearts with her. We tried our best to keep her here, but her weak lungs gave out. She was born 7, 1930 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Gordon and Leah Ence Chidester. JoAnne was a generous and loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She was raised in Salt Lake City and graduated from the University of Utah with a degree in music. She married Lyle S Ford on 28, 1953 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. JoAnne and Lyle loved to travel the world with their friends, Cal and Diane Workman. JoAnne was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many church callings. She especially loved the Primary where she served as a Stake Primary President and played the piano for singing time into her eighties. We mourn our loss, but celebrate with peace and joy that she was able to leave behind her pain and struggles and be reunited with her beloved husband, Lyle, and her parents. JoAnne is preceded in death by her husband, Lyle, and her parents. She is survived by her two daughters, Lori Ririe (Kent) and Tracy Barnett (Chris); grandchildren: Shauna Phillips (Roger), Diana Hobbs (Jason), Sam Barnett, and Jared Ririe (Cailey); great grandchildren: Corbyn Phillips, Blake Hobbs, Peyton Phillips and Skyler Hobbs; sister Dorothy Egan. A viewing will be held on , 7, 2015 at 1:00 pm at the Fortuna LDS Ward located at 4407 Fortuna Way followed by Services at 2:00 pm. A viewing will also be held at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary 3401 Highland Drive on , 6, 2015 from 6-8 pm. Obituary: Genevieve Gordon Ford 1923-2011 Genevieve Gordon Ford completed her earthly mission on , May 6, 2011 and returned home to be with Leo and her Heavenly Father. Jenny’s life was dedicated to others as she loved and served unconditionally. She was born in Orem on 17, 1923 to Curtis and Minnie Gordon. She graduated from Lincoln High School and became recognized throughout the community as one of the singing Gordon sisters. She was also named Orem’s very first Harvest Queen. Jenny married Leo James Ford in the Salt Lake Temple on May 21, 1943 and they raised their family in Orem. Her life became more full with 27 grandchildren, and her joy was enhanced with 68 great grandchildren. Many more adopted her as their own grandmother and she will be remembered as the kindest lady in the neighborhood. Her home was a refuge for family and friends. Her exceptional home- made candies and ginger bread houses were enjoyed by countless visitors, whose visits were not complete without having a treat or something to eat. She warmed many lives with her custom quilts and her sewing was appreciated by all. With Jenny’s passing, the Jazz and Cougars lose a loyal fan. Jenny valued her relationship with her family and her greatest joy was seeing them all together. She missed her sweetheart Leo dearly as he passed away in 1981 and left her alone much too long. She fondly recalled their family reunions, camping and deer hunting trips and insisted similar activities become family traditions. She cherished the blessing to serve as Relief Society president and ward chorister and held numerous other callings. Jenny is survived by her seven children: Roger (Karen), Jeanette (Joel) Sanderson, Ann (David) Kirk, Peggy (Noel) Torgersen, Mindy (Russell) Wiscombe, Laura (Blaine) Wirth, and Kevin (Janice). She also leaves behind three sisters: Elizabeth Hawkins, Cumorah Holdaway, and Dixie Smith. She was preceded in death by three sisters, a brother, and two grandchildren. Services will be , May 11 at 11a.m. in the Orem Utah Orchard Stake on 600 N 800 E. A viewing will be held at the Walker Sanderson Mortuary 646 E 800 N in Orem from 6 to 8p.m. on , May 10, and from 9 to 10:30a.m. prior to services in the Stake . Interment will be in the Orem City . The family would like to express sincere thanks to the staff of Summerfield Manor, Alpine and Hospice, and to all who showed many acts of love and kindness to our mother. |
