Obituary: Bernice Estelle Fryar, 87, of Paris, passed away , 27, 2015 at The Place in Paris with her family by her side. Services are scheduled for 11:00 am, , 3, 2015 at Bright-Holland with Reverend Mark Hutchison officiating. Burial will follow in Springhill . The family will receive friends, at the funeral home, one hour prior to service time. Bernice was born 10, 1927, in Bagwell to Charles Parks and Pearl Ferguson Parks. She married Jack R. Fryar and he preceded her in death on 5, 1991. Bernice was a homemaker while her husband, Jack worked as a chemist and engineer in the oil and gas industry. Her interests included her family, gardening, sewing, dancing and reading. She loved animals. Bernice devoted much of her time and energy as a caregiver to family members, including her mother and her husband. Surviving her are two sons, Wayne Fryar & wife Linda and Roger Fryar & wife Janet; her grandchildren, Stephanie Ellington, Becky Hayes, Mike Fryar, Stephen Fryar and Barbara Schwerin; five great-grandchildren and a host of friends. Honorary casket bearers will be D. Betenbough, Mike Fryar, Stephen Fryar, Aubrey Ellington and Richard Garrison. Obituary: Marilee Winerich Fry-Covens went to be with the Lord at the age of 79 in San Antonio, Texas on , 23, 2009. She was born on 14, 1930, the daughter of William Holmes Winerich and Lucile Summers Winerich. Marilee made her profession of faith in Christ at an early age in First Baptist Church in San Antonio. She was a graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School, where she was a member of the Girls Cadet Corps and Martha Jefferson Randolph Society. Marilee attended Sullins in Bristol, VA, where she was president of the Spanish Club and secretary of the senior class. She was King in the annual Mardi Gras at Sullins. Marilee received her degree from SMU where she was a member of the Tri Delta Sorority. She was a very talented pianist and played with the San Antonio Quartet Symphony. Marilee stayed active in the Jr. League, volunteering in Texas Childrens Hospital, Leader of Young Married SS Class, puppetry, singing, playing the piano, while raising her three children in Houston. She sang in numerous choirs for 75 years with the Joy Singers and Prayer Ministry of AHUMC while in San Antonio. She was preceded in death by her loving and devoted husband, John Henry Fry, Jr., graduate of UT, President of Delta Tau Delta, President of Friars, President of UT Student Association and a member of the Silver Spurs and a Deacon of First Presbyterian Church in Houston; her parents, William and Lucile Winerich; two nephews, William Winerich Pipes Billy and Robert Summers Pipes Bobby; and brother-in-law, Dr. William F. Pipes. What a grand reunion Mimi is having in Heaven! Marilee is survived by her beloved children: daughter, Melissa Fry Ford and husband, Lex of Houston, Meredith Fry Walker and husband, Chris of Diboll; son, John Barrett Fry of Katy; three grandchildren, Eric Blair and Adelaide Blair Gibson and Amanda Millis; sister, Lucile Winerich Pipes of San Antonio, and her children David Pipes and wife, Ruth of Odell, NE, and Luci Pipes Bell and husband, Seth of San Antonio; grandnephew, Billy Pipes ; grandniece, Lucile Bell; numerous cousins, step-children, and step-grandchildren. Obituary: DENISON - Dr. Wilburn S. Fry, Jr., beloved physician, father, grandfather and friend went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on , 2, 2013 after a lengthy illness. Wilburn was born 28, 1924 in Dallas, Texas, the only child of Wilburn S. Fry, Sr. and Era Jane (Cappleman) Fry. As a child raised during the Depression years, Wilburn moved with his parents numerous times to places where his father could find work. As a result of these moves, he attended 12 different schools from the ages of 5 to 16. He graduated from Commerce High School, Commerce, Texas in 1940 and from East Texas State Teachers (now TAMU-Commerce) in 1943 with BS degrees in both Chemistry and Math. While in college, Wilburn met the love of his life, Opal Lee Manley, and married her on 15, 1944. enjoyed 69 years together as husband and wife until Opals death on 27, 2013. Soon after their marriage, he was drafted into military service and served as a Medical Corpsman in the U. S. Navy on Okinawa during the latter months of WWII. the end of the war, he returned home to attend medical school at UT Southwestern Medical School in Dallas, Texas, graduating in 1950. His residency requirements were completed at the VA Hospital in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma in 1952. setting up his first private medical practice in Donna, Texas in the Rio Grande Valley, Wilburn was called back into military service during the Korean Conflict and was trained as a flight surgeon in the U. S. Air Force. He was stationed at the Air Force Base in Harlingen, Texas in 1954, then was transferred to Perrin Air Force Base in Sherman, Texas in 1956. his discharge from active military service in 1957, he began his medical practice in Denison, Texas as a family physician and general surgeon and continued in that role until his retirement in , 1992. Wilburn was a Charter Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians and received numerous awards from the Texas Academy of Family Physicians over the years of his medical practice. He served as Chief of Staff at Madonna Hospital and the MKT Railroad Employees Hospital in Denison and was on the steering committee for the establishment of Memorial Hospital in Denison, now known as Texoma Medical . He served as Chairman of the Grayson Board of from the early 1970s until 1992 and was instrumental in helping provide maternity services to many underprivileged women in Grayson . Wilburn served God faithfully at Parkside Baptist Church, Denison for many years as a deacon and trustee until his failing health prevented him from serving in those capacities. He also served with his wife Opal as Mission Service Corps volunteers at Parkside, participating in medical mission trips to the Rio Grande Valley and many mission construction trips , culminating in two mission trips to Russia in 1997 and 1998 where he had the joy of supplying some much needed medications to doctors there. He also was a member of Gideons International and took every opportunity given him to distribute the word of God. Wilburn is survived by his two daughters and their husbands; Elise and John Ruddell and Esther and Richard Taylor, all of Denison; beloved grandchildren, Melody Ruddell, Houston, Texas, Dr. Timothy Ruddell and wife Amy of Sherman, Texas and Hollie Taylor of Denison; beloved great-grandchild Olivia Kate Ruddell of Sherman, Texas. Also surviving him are beloved nieces and nephew and many dear friends and fellow servants of God. He was preceded in death by his wife, Opal Fry, parents W. S. Fry, Sr. and Era Jane Fry; parents-in-law Amos and Ocie Manley; brothers-in-law Oris Manley, Ivan Manley and A. E. Sanders; sisters-in-law Audrey Manley, Rachel Manley and Mabel Ann Sanders. The family will be at Bratcher for visitation from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M., , 4, 2013. A celebration of Wilburns life will be held at Parkside Baptist Church, Denison, Texas on , 5, 2013 at 11:00 A.M., with interment to follow at Cedarlawn Memorial Park in Sherman, Texas.
