Obituary: Donna Guy Francis, 50, went home to be with the Lord on 3, 2010 at home surrounded by her family and close friends. Visitation will be held at Memorial Chapel in Bryan, Texas from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on 6th. Following a private burial, a service celebrating her life will be held at Central Baptist Church in Bryan, on 7th at 2:00 p.m. Donna was a true blue sports fan, rooting from the stands as a mother, wife, and friend. Donna will be deeply missed for her willingness to put others before herself. She lived with a servants heart for her caregivers, co-workers, friends and family. Also, as a supporter, contributor and beneficiary she was closely involved with Brazos Valley Cancer Society and Relay for Life. Early in her life Donna worked through the Texas A&M University System, was Mothers Day Out Director at Central Baptist Church, Front Office Assistant for Dr. Royal Benson III and most recently at BCS Heart Professional Building. Donna is preceded in death by her grandparents and brother, Monty Guy. She is survived by her husband of 32 years, Harry L. Francis Jr., her 2 children, Nichole LeAnn and Trey Robert Francis; parents, R. Don and Jo Ann Guy of Denison, Texas; sister-in-law, Maria Flack, of Bryan; sister, Christie Critter Hill; brother-in-law, Stephen Hill; niece and nephew, Baily Ann and Chance Stephen Hill, of McKinney, TX, brother and sister-in-law, Glenn Alan and Kyleen Francis; and nieces, Kimberly Danelle and Kristen Michelle Francis of Lebanon, OH. Also, least we forget her closest fourlegged companions, Brady Jo and Bubba Joe Francis, Gabriel, Moon Shadow and Dungy (Donnas Dauchsh). On behalf of Donna and the family, we deeply appreciate the care and compassion shown by the staff at St. Josephs Hospital, M.D. Anderson Cancer in Houston and Hospice Brazos Valley. Obituary: Delores “Del” Francis went home to be with the Lord on 9, 2015 at Clare Bridge Memory facility in North Richland Hills, Texas due to Alzheimer’s disease. Sister Del, as she was affectionately known, was born, together with her twin sister Rose on 16, 1942 in St. James, Jamaica to her parents Ivylyn and Uriel Foster. The second of 12 children, Del spent her childhood studying at Catadupa All Age School. Following her graduation, she moved to Kington, Jamaica. In 1984, Del left Jamaica to join her husband in the United States. She lived in a, Georgia, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, London, England, Toronto, Ontario and finally settled in the Dallas, Texas area. Del will be remembered as a loving sister, daughter, mother and grandmother. Del was a strong woman, quick to share her opinions and even quicker to share a smile and embrace. She was passionate about the importance of education and the bonds of family. A great woman of faith, she was committed to the church community and spent many hours serving in the church, studying her bible and even singing hymns while she worked around the home. Del is survived by her sons Dwight Francis and Derrick Francis, her daughter-in-law Pamela Francis, her stepdaughter Sandra Morgan, brothers Errol Foster, Roy Foster, Alvin Foster, Harry Foster, Alton Foster, and Lloyd Foster, sisters Rose Foster, Despie Morrison, Euda Gayle, Dawn White, and Sharon Foster, grandchildren Tor, Lydia, Karimah, Zachary, Sharik, Charles Andrew and Asiah. She was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth Francis. Del will be laid to rest at Bluebonnet Hills and Memorial Park on , 15, 2015 at 12:30 p.m. Visitation will take place immediately before the service from 11:45 a.m. until 12:20 p.m. at Bluebonnet Hills . Obituary: Charley O. Francis, a resident of Shamrock, Texas, died peacefully at his home on , May 25th after a brief illness. He was 80 years old. He was preceded in death by his father, Alzary O. and mother, Ila Jackson Fisher, as well as a brother Ronnie. Charley was born in Erick, Oklahoma on 15th, 1933, and was raised in Shamrock. His favorite "subjects" in high school were football and softball. He was quarterback of the Shamrock Fighting Irish his Jr. and Sr. years. graduating from Shamrock in 1952, Charley joined the Navy. He received training in Naval Telecommunications, eventually progressing to Radioman 3rd Class. Charley proudly served his country aboard (among other crafts) a minesweeping submarine. One of his most memorable moments at sea was personally receiving the telecommunication of the birth of his first child. Upon his honorable discharge in 1956, Charley moved to California and joined the Modesto Police Department in the Communications (dispatch) department. He quickly progressed to Police Officer, then Detective. He later received his A.A. degree from Modesto Jr. in Criminal Justice. It was during this time that his second child was born. It was in 1966, while working as a police officer, that he met Nona (Farley), a newly hired dispatcher. had their first date in May of 1967. Charley, never one to waste time when he knew what he wanted, proposed in early of that year. He made it clear that he was not only proposing to her, but that he was accepting her two children from a previous marriage and her live-in mother into his heart as well. were married on 27th, 1967. In the mid 60's, Charley began bowling. What began as a hobby later became one of his life's great passions. During his 30+ years at the sport, he won numerous tournaments and received countless awards, including one for a perfect 300 game. For approximately 20 years, he was the Secretary of the NorCal Travel League, and held numerous offices in the Modesto Bowling Association, including President (1993 - 1995). In of 2014, Charley will be inducted into the Modesto Bowling Hall of Fame, an honor for which he was immensely proud. Another hobby which Charley threw his energy into was genealogy. He and Nona began researching the Francis family in the mid 80's. Over the years they amassed a family tree consisting of about 1500 members, dating from 1727 to the present. Thanks to this research, Charley established an extended family of "cousins" that stretches from coast to coast and border to border. He looked forward to their annual family reunions that brought together people from across the country. In 2004, Charley and Nona retired to Shamrock, Texas. It was an exhausting 2 year search to settle on their new home. both knew that Shamrock was the right town when he was recognized in a local store by someone who remembered him as the high school quarterback. The small town in which he had grown up was once again home. Charley will be greatly missed by his family, including his loving wife Nona (of Shamrock, TX), son Terry (of Rocklin, CA), daughter Deb St. Clair (of Salida, CA), son Rick (and wife Jamie of Linden, CA), daughter Kristi (and husband Michael James of Citrus Heights, CA), daughter-in-law Bonnie (of Rocklin, CA), his 4 grandchildren; Kelly, Lindsay, Mary, and Jared, 3 great-grandchildren, brothers Jimy (of Amarillo, TX), Don (and Marilyn of Erick, OK), Jon Paul (and Sue of Warner Robbins, GA), several nieces and nephews, and hundreds of "cousins" all over the country. A memorial service will be held at the Robertson in Shamrock, TX on , May 29th at 11:00am. Viewing will begin at 10:30am. Charley will be laid to rest at the Lakewood Memorial Park in Hughson, CA where a graveside service will be held at 9:00am on , May 31st with local arrangements by Lakewood Memorial Park and . In lieu of flowers, the family appreciates donations to the Shamrock American Legion Christmas Toy fund, or the Modesto CA Bowling Association Jr. League. |
