Obituary: Gail Katherine Fowler of San Antonio, Texas, formerly of Eugene, Oregon, died at the age of 91 on 10, 2008 of natural causes. She was born 16, 1916 in Tiernan, Oregon to Charles M. and Tena Beck Darling. Gail graduated from Mapleton High School in 1933 and Oregon Normal School, now Western Oregon University, in 1935. She taught elementary school in Mapleton, Cushman and Florence, Oregon. Gail married William H. Fowler, a career Army Officer, 27, 1936. Gail was preceded in death by her husband William H. Fowler, in 1981, her brother Charles M. Putt Darling in 1990 and her daughter, Linda Gail Ridgway, in 2004. Her memory will be cherished by her two sons, Dr. William H. Fowler Jr. and wife Zena of San Antonio, Texas, Dr. Charles R. Fowler and wife Mary of Greenville, South Carolina, five grandchildren, Natalie Fowler, Cathy Fowler, Christopher Fowler and wife Ginny of Frankfort, Illinois, Maria Fowler, Benjamin Ridgway, a great-grandson Jackson Fowler, and Dr. Kirby G. Ridgway of Portsmouth, Virginia. Gail was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Eugene, Oregon. She truly enjoyed her early morning walks, playing bridge and traveling. In lieu of flowers a memorial contribution in Gails name may be made to the Shiners Hospitals for Children in Portland, Oregon. |

Obituary: Father John William Fowler, a retired priest of the Catholic Diocese of Dallas, passed away on 22 in Sachse. Father Fowler was born in Dallas on 17, 1926 to John and Maria Redmond Fowler. He was preceded in death by his brother Douglas Fowler and sisters Margaret McCauley, Maura Roberts, and Eileen Reed. He is survived by his sister Catherine Savage and several nieces and nephews. Father Fowler was raised in Dallas where he attended Sacred Heart Cathedral School and North Dallas High School. serving in the army during World War II, he entered St. John Seminary in San Antonio and was ordained by Bishop Thomas Gorman at Sacred Heart Cathedral on May 30, 1953. Father Fowler served in many parishes during his priestly ministry. He served as an Assistant Pastor at Christ the King, Dallas; St. Alice and St. George in Fort Worth; Sacred Heart in Texarkana; and St. Luke in Irving. He served as Pastor at St. Joseph in Marshall; Holy Name in Fort Worth; Immaculate Conception in Tyler, Immaculate Conception in Corsicana; St. Mary in Sherman, and St. Michael in Grand Prairie. He retired from active ministry in 1997 and continued to help out for many years on a part-time basis in several parishes in the Dallas area. Parishioners and friends can pay their respects in the Chapel of Sparkman/Hillcrest 7405 W. Northwest Hwy, Dallas, TX 75225 Dallas on , 26 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. with Rosary at 7:00 p.m. The Mass will be celebrated on , 27 at 10:00 a.m. at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, 214 S. Garland Avenue, Garland, TX 75040, with Most Rev. Douglas Deshotel, Celebrant and Homilist, and Brother Priests of the Diocese, Concelebrants.
