Obituary: Charlotte Dishong Fortune died on May 12, 2015 in Austin, Texas at the age of eighty three. She was born and raised in Nebraska City, Nebraska. Her town, family, and friends were always close to her heart. Charlotte was an airman in the United States Air Force and while stationed in New Mexico she met and married Robert Carr with whom she had two children, Karen and Barbara. She later married John Fortune and resided in Fort Worth, Texas for many years. Professionally, she worked as an accountant and owned her own tax consulting business. Her passion was politics, always quick to retell the story of meeting Ronald Reagan when she served as a delegate for the Republican National Convention. She was an avid traveler and visited many countries with her children and grandchildren. Charlotte is survived by her daughters, Karen Carr, Bobbi Carr and husband Greg Thagard, and Karri Thagard; her grandchildren, Thomas Carrington, Erin, Jordan, Simon, Camden Torres, Claire Kelly, and Meredith and Madeline Thagard; her great-grandchildren Locklyn and Cullen; and her adopted African elephant Lempuete. She will be laid to rest at 11:00 a.m. on , May 16, 2015 at Cook-Walden/Memorial Hill in Pflugerville, Texas. Obituary: "Doc" Herbert W. Fortson Jr. was born on 31, 1925 in Shreveport, Louisiana to Herbert and Estelle Fortson. Herbert lived his early life in Houma, Louisiana before joining the Marine Corps at the age of 17. Herbert, or Doc as he liked to be called, wore many hats in life. But among all of them, one thing was common, he helped others. Whether it was using his degree as an MD, or using his skills as a chemical engineer, or to help people with their health issuies based on a diet and hair analyses b making a formula according to their deficiency or toxicity using vitamins and minerals and enzymes to treat their ailments. being a Surgeon for years, he realized that cutting it out was not the answer. Doc enjoyed helping others. He went to Vietnam as a 2 star General and set up Mash units using his own resources to help the sick and wounded soldiers.. Herbert was an incredibly bright person as well. Using his know how and work effort, he put together many companies that he would eventually sell off to start something new and exciting. One of Docs other joys was flying. He got his pilots license and even owned his own aircraft for a while to further his passion. Doc enjoyed tinkering on things and could fix anything. Doc is survived by his wife, Annette Fortson as well as 5 sons: Herbert Willard Fortson III, Sterling Fortson, Stanley Fortson, Freddie Fortson, and Bobby Fortson; 1 Daughter, Wilhemenia Fortson whom he called Cathy. Herbert was also survived by his 2 step-sons David and George Watkins as well as his step-daughter Mary Williams and numerous grandchildren.
