Obituary: SEPTEMBER 30, 1933~JUNE 25, 2015 FERDIE FONTENOT, JR. was born 30, 1933 in Ville Platte, Louisiana to Ferdie Fontenot, Sr. and Hermance Antoine. He attended James Stevens School and resided on West Pine Street in Ville Platte, Louisiana. He accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at a very early age and was baptized by Rev. S. W. Pullen of St. John Baptist Church in Ville Platte. FERDIE married the beautiful Gloria Jean Fontenot on 14, 1956 and, to this union, five children were born. FERDIE was very mechanically inclined and had a deep passion for auto mechanics. From the age of 16, he worked at various auto mechanic repair shops in Ville Platte, including Ardoin Auto Sales and Kerby Alfred Repair Shop. During 1969, he received a certificate for his participation in The Neighborhood Nutrition Program at Louisiana State University and Agricultural & Mechanical . FERDIE decided to migrate to Richmond, California during 1971 with his family to pursue better opportunities. His strong ambition led him to continue to enhance his knowledge in auto mechanics by attending Contra Costa in San Pablo as well as the Motorcycle Mechanic Training in Oakland, while simultaneously holding down positions at Gibson Hanion in Richmond and Neil Sadler Auto Repair and Towing in Berkeley. FERDIE became employed by Curtis Baker Trucking in El Sobrante as a Truck Driver Mechanic. It was here where he acquired a new passion for 18---wheel trucks and possessed a lengthy career as a Truck Driver for Acme Transportation, hauling acid, diesel fuel, etc. to large corporations including Chevron, Geysers Power Plant, and Union Oil. FERDIE loved the Lord. He and his family fellowshipped and became long - time members of The G.L.A. (Gods Little Acre) Mission in Richmond under the leadership of Rev. Scipio Wigfall. He also worshipped with Garden of Peace Ministries in Richmond under the leadership of his cousin, Pastor Henry Washington. Aside from his passion for auto mechanics, Ferdie enjoyed hunting, fishing, and watching Western Movies with his favorite actor, John Wayne. He also had a great appreciation for sports, especially NASCAR Races with Jeff Gordon. FERDIE was a soft spoken and humble spirited man; a natural philosopher as well. Even while chastising his children, he made certain that they understood the full detail of their reprimand with extensive lectures. FERDIE and Gloria relocated to Cypress, Texas during 2009 where they enjoyed family and friends until he received his wings on the morning of 25, 2015. He will be truly missed by all. |

Obituary: Evelyn F. Fontenot, 90, of Port Arthur passed away , 16, 2013. Evelyn was born 3, 1923 in Mamou, Louisiana to Jean Pierre Fontenot and Hermance Fusilier Fontenot. Evelyn was a devoted wife and mother. She loved family, bingo and was an avid Astros fan. She also loved and attended many of Lee Greenwoods concerts. Evelyn and her sister, Vivian, were known by Lee Greenwood as his Texas Sweethearts. Evelyn is preceded in death by her parents, Hermance F. Stagg and Jean Pierre Fontenot; her loving husband, Willis Erman Fontenot; sister, Ruby M. Long and husband, Earl D. Long; brothers, Aubrey P. Fontenot, Sr. and Wade Fontenot. She is survived by sons; Richard W. Fontenot and wife, Dinah of Carlyss, LA; John E. Fontenot and wife, Linda of Hemphill, TX; Stephen P. Fontenot and wife, Sherrie of Sugar Land, TX; Glenn A. Fontenot and wife, Susan of Groves, TX; daughters, Sarah J. Creel and husband, Leonard of Cedar Park, TX; and Nola L. Martin and husband, Dean of Port Neches, TX; sister, Vivian Melancon of Austin, TX; 18 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews in Texas, Louisiana and Washington State. A gathering of family and friends will be held , 18, 2013 from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m., with a Rosary to be recited at 6 p.m., at Grammier-Oberle . services will be held at 10:00 AM , 19, 2013 at St. Catherines Catholic Church, with Rev. David Placette officiating. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park. Obituary: Donald JoJo Joseph Fontenot, Sr, 77, of Port Arthur, passed away , 13, 2015 in Lake Charles, LA. Donald was born 7, 1937 in Port Acres, TX to Walton Roque Fontenot and Lula Mae Pilcher. He graduated from Stephen F. Austin High School in 1955 and served in the U.S. Army and Merchant Marines. He was a Master Carpenter by trade and was involved with the Carpenters Local 610. During his tenure he held the positions of Secretary/Treasurer, President, and proudly served as a mentor to the Carpenters Apprentice Program. He was also a member of the International Order of Odd Fellows and believed in their dedication to improve and elevate the character of mankind by promoting principles of friendship, love and truth. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Jim Fonteno and sisters, Gladys Bugs Walsh and Mannon Blue Eyes McFarland. Donald is survived by his wife of 34 years, Jan Mills Fontenot, his children, Glen Gaines and wife Elizabeth of Jackson, MS; Craig Gaines and wife Anna of Bahrain and Houston, TX; Patrick Gaines and wife Shari of Palm Harbor, FL; Michelle Fontenot of San Antonio, TX; Donald Fontenot, Jr and wife Grace of Londonderry, NH; Beau Fontenot and wife Becky of Lake Charles, LA; 12 grandchildren; brothers, Bobby Fontenot and Kermit Fonteno; sister, Louise Schenkewitz; and many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends, , 16, 2015 from 5:00pm to 8:00pm at Grammier-Oberle .
