Obituary: Thomas Francis Fay, 85, of Plano, Texas died , 6, 2016 at his son Anthonys home in Plano after a brief illness. Mr. Fay was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Nancy (Woods) Fay. He leaves his three children, Susan (Steve) Hotopp of Chicago, Illinois, Timothy (Cappie) Fay of Half Moon Bay, California, and Anthony Fay of Plano, Texas, as well as his beloved grandchildren: Julia, Sara, Conor, Carter, and Katie. He is survived by his brothers Joseph Fay of Connecticut, James Fay of Florida, and Ronald Fay of Colorado. Mr. Fay was born on 27, 1931 in Weymouth, Massachusetts, the son of Patrick Joseph and Mary Agnes (McDonagh) Fay. An avid athlete, he played both baseball and football for Weymouth High School. Upon graduation in 1950, he enlisted in the United States Air Force and served his country honorably as an airman first class. leaving the service, he married Nancy Woods of OFallon, Illinois at St. Clare Catholic Church in OFallon in 1955. He then attended McKendree in Lebanon, Illinois before accepting employment as an industrial engineer with Fenwick Fashions, Inc. of St. Louis, Missouri. This was the start of a long career in industry, the culmination of which was a position as director of manufacturing with Jerell, Inc. of Dallas, Texas. Upon his retirement in 1990, Mr. Fay and Nancy traveled widely, making trips to England, Ireland, Wales, France, Germany, Italy, Greece, and Turkey. also enjoyed visiting their children and grandchildren in Illinois and California. Mr. Fay shared a lifelong love of sports with his family. He, Nancy, and his children attended many professional sporting events together, including St. Louis Cardinals baseball, St. Louis Blues hockey, Texas Rangers baseball, and Dallas Mavericks basketball games. Mr. Fays greatest sporting passion was reserved for the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame. In 1989, he and Nancy were honored by their children with a trip to the South Bend campus to watch the team defeat Michigan State. He remained a loyal fan to the end of his life, just as he was a devoted and loyal husband, father, and grandfather. Services will be private at Ted Dickey in Plano. Obituary: Nancy Lou Fay, age 78, of Plano, TX, passed away on , 18, 2012. She was born in OFallon, Illinois, to the late Delmar and Viva Woods. Nancy was employed with the United States Air Force for 13 years and the Internal Revenue Service for 14 years. She enjoyed traveling throughout her life. Nancy was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew her. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Charles Woods. Nancy is survived by her husband of 56 years, Thomas Fay; three children and their spouses, Susan and Steven Hotopp of Naperville, IL, Tim and Cappie Fay of Burlingame, CA and Tony and Susan Fay of Plano, TX; and five grandchildren, Julia Hotopp, Sara Fay, Conor Fay, Carter Fay and Katie Fay. Obituary: Dr. Joseph T. Fay passed away on 19th, 2015 at the Army Residence Community in San Antonio, Texas. He succumbed to CLL (leukemia) after 15 years of treatment. He was born in Pawtucket, Rhode Island to Ethel and Joseph A. Fay, and was preceded in death by parents and son Joseph Todd Fay. He is survived by his devoted wife of 55 years, Mary JoAnn Fay, daughter Diane Bare and son Michael Maguire; his sister Patricia Jarbeau, an educator and Brother Thomas Fay, Esq., former family court judge and RI Chief Justice. He and JoAnn have 6 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Prior to their return to active duty in 1966, Dr. Fay was the dental surgeon at N.H. state hospital and its 2,000 patients. He graduated from St. Raphael Academy, Providence in R.I., and University of MD (BCDS) with a DDS degree, University of Pennsylvania General Hospital in the Anatomic Pathology Dept. Residency Program with ten physicians and mentored by Allen Steinberg, M.D.; Lionel Gold, DDM, M.D. was his mentor in Maxillo-Facial Pathology during this time. Between 1967-1972, he successfully completed his National Board and State dental exams in Rhode Island, New Hampshire, and Pennsylvania and both of his specialty boards. While in Germany, he was appointed a consultant to the Surgeon General in both oral medicine and maxillo-facial pathology. Early in his career, 1962-1965 the Fays were stationed in Asmara, Ethiopia, and had the honor of caring for the royal family and H.I.M. Haile Salassie. Commander Desta, the next in line to the throne, was Joe and JoAnns close friend and invited them to the Royal Ball for the Queen of England and Prince Phillipe. Dr. Fay was unable to carry on in private practice due to a rare form of muscle atrophy and loss of strength (PFK, i.e., metabolic muscle disease), which was finally diagnosed when he was medically evacuated to WRAMC from the 10th Medical Lab in Landstuhl, Germany in 1983. He and JoAnn were stationed at Fort Lee, VA., Ethiopia private practice, WBAMC twice, Ft. Leonard Wood, MO., Esenhower Medical , and 10th Medical Lab in Landstuhl, Germany, where he was Deputy Commander and Chief of Pathology, and Ft. Sam Houston as the Rhoades Dental Clinic Chief. One of his patients at the time was Shaq ONeal, Ph. D. For more than 22 years, he participated in Harvards and Professional Study by submitting medical records, reports, MRIs, biopsy samples, etc. he has published articles in various journals to include the ADA, AMA, an Cancer. Dr. Fay was the first Army dentist to have passed his boards in two nationally recognized specialties, and the first to be awarded the coveted A Prefix in two recognized specialties: Oral Medicine and Maxillo-Facial Pathology. Among the most cherished of his military awards include the Order of Military Medical Merit, three Meritorious Service medals (i.e. one medal with two oak leaf clusters), and the Legion of Merit.
