General Dudley E. Faver was born 17, 1916 near Sweetwater, Texas to the late Lewis and Nina (Scott) Faver. He graduated from Newman High School, Sweetwater, Texas in 1933. In 1937 he graduated from Abilene Christian . his graduation from college he was employed by private industry for a year and then by the Levelland Public School system for two years. In 1940 he applied for the Army Air Corps flying Cadet Program and was accepted in Class 41-H. He graduated 31, 1941. Upon graduation he was assigned as a flight instructor in the Advanced Flying Training School at Mather Air Base. In 1943 Mr. Faver, applied and was accepted for assignment in the new Instrument Instructor Flight Program at Bryan Air Base and later moved to Barksdale Air Base as Director of the classroom phase of that school. In of 1947 he transferred to the Alaskan Air Command, Anchorage, Alaska, to become the Executive Officer for the Deputy Chief of Staff of Operations.

In of 1949 he left Alaska for entry in the Air Force Command and Staff , Maxwell AFB, Ala., his assignment upon his graduation in 1949, was to Tyndall Air Force Base as Flight Squadron Commander. Fifteen months later, in 1952 he transferred to a newly formed organization in Wichita, Kansas. This unit had the mission of conversion of SACs B-29 crews to flying Boeings new jets, B-47s. Lt. Col. Favers responsibility was the classroom phase of the conversion program. In 1953, a second B-47 Training Wing was activated at Pinecastle Air Force Base, Orlando, Florida. Col. Faver was transferred there as the Flying Group Commander.

The next move, in the spring of 1954, was to Air Force headquarters as the Director of the Manning Unit in Air Force Personnel Responsible for the assignment of all Air Force officers below the grade of Colonel.
In the fall of 1957, he entered the Air War , Maxwell Air Force Base, and graduated in the summer of, 1958, with overseas orders to Leon, France, there he was assigned to the 66th Tactical Reconnaissance Wing as Deputy for the Operations. In less than six months in 1959, he was moved to a more urgent requirement at USAFE, HQ, ADVON, Ramstein Air Base, Germany.

The next two and one-half years were served as the Director, IRBM Deployment activity for USAFE (HQ). This organization handled the negotiations efforts between the United States and both Italy and Turkey for the placement of Intermediate Range Ballistic Missiles on their soil. By the time this tour of duty was completed in 1962, the missiles were in place and operational. In 1962 he was assigned to Amarillo Air Base as Commander of the Technical Training School. In 1964, he was back to flying business again as Commander of the advanced flying training program at Reese Air Base. While there he was promoted to Brigadier General. Here, he married Dorris Kirk Maxey who served with him, his multiple assignments for 45 years. On 26, 1966 he departed Reese for a USAF Dep. Director, AF Personnel Planning job in the Pentagon. In the summer of 1969 he left the Pentagon to become Commander, TUSLOG, Ankara, Turkey. While there he received his second star. 1971 marked his return to the Pentagon as Director of the Personnel Council for the Secretary of the Air Force. In 1973 after statutory retirement from the Air Force he was appointed by President Nixon as Regional Administrator for the new Office of Energy in Denver, CO. While in Denver, General Faver accepted an invitation to formulate and initiate a new Masters Program at Denver University for applicants with five or more years of experience as a professional manager. In the summer of 1980 he moved to the of Business, Texas Tech University and had taught some phase of the management program ever since, except for the sabbatical year that was served as district Governor, rotary International, District 5730 (1999-2000).

General Faver was a involved in many Public Service Activities, he was a member of the Kiwanis Club 1951 to 1952, member to the Lions Club 1964 -1966, member of the Rotary Club 1939- 1940 and 1980 to present, Texas Tech Universitys Loaned Executive to United Way Drive 1981, Member of Goodwill Board, 1985 - present, and a member of Work Source Development Board 1990 - 1995. He was also involved in many Military Services Related Activities including the Air Force Association, Military Officers Association, Society of Daedalians (military pilots only) and a member of Vietnam Advisory Board 1988- present.

General Faver received many award and honors including the following, Chairman, Mountain Plains Federal Regional Council 1971, The Equal Opportunity Award, FED 1976, Distinguished Service Medal with one Oak Leaf Cluster, Legion of Merit with three Clusters, Command Pilot, United States Air Force, Missile Badge, United States Air Force, Certificates of Appreciation, Boy Scouts of America, 1963 and 1971, Citation, Turkish Air Force, 1971, Certificate of Appreciation, Cities of Amarillo and Lubbock, Texas 1963 and 1966, Commendation, Government of Italy, 1961, United States Army Commendation, , Magna Cum Laude and multiple Paul Harris Fellowships.

Those left to honor and cherish his memory are his loving wife, Dorris Kirk Maxey Faver, brother; Lewis Faver, children; Scott Faver, Tom Faver, Pat Faver, Tim Faver, Bill Faver, Nina Mayes, Dale Strong, Jim and Diane Maxey, Harriett and Ronald Fields, Hannah Fields and Rachel Fields.

She is survived in legacy through her beloved siblings: Torivio, Maria, Angela, Chuy, Lupe, Paula, Sofia, and Bahola. Also, her three devoted daughters: Olga Escajeda, Edna Faver, and Emma Saldana. She adored and loved her precious daughters with all her heart. Additionally, she nurtured six grandchildren that gave her great pride and joy: Vivian, Gus, Marina, Gil, Andy, and Veronica; and nine great grandchildren: Pablo, Frank, Marina, Vincent, Valerie, Madison, Sophia, Gene, and Cate, all of whom love and cherish her greatly.
