Obituary: Sara Trimble Farrar, Born 24, 1924, died 2, 2015. Preceded in death by husbands Miller Felts and Franklin Farrar, parents Ina R. Edwards and Charles H. Trimble, sister Mary Trimble Smith. Survived by children Becky Felts (Tom) Rogers, Larry (Candace) Felts and Jim Felts, step-children Betty Farrar (Dick) Sweetman and Johnny (Melinda) Farrar, 6 grandchildren Logan Felts, Corbin Felts, Lindsay (Ben) Studer, Wayne (Jennifer) Seagraves, Sarah Baird (Troy) Laman and Wade Baird, 7 great grandchildren. Sara was a graduate of West End High School and attended both Western Kentucky University and Vanderbilt University. She worked as a substitute teacher with Metro schools and worked at the State of Tennessee, Dept. of Finance and Administration. She was an active member of Woodmont Christian Church for over 65 years, participating in Christian Womens Fellowship, Walk through Bethlehem, Room in the Inn, Visitation Group, GEMS and Rovin Retirees. Woodmont held a special place in her heart. services will be held , 6, 2015 at Woodmont Christian Church at 11:00 am, Dr. C. Roy Stauffer officiating, visitation with the family will be one hour prior to service. Pallbearers: George Oxnam, Rob Sherrill, Scott Sherrill, and Parker Sherrill. Obituary: Patricia Farrar, longtime Lubbock resident, passed away peacefully at her home on 19th. Pat was born on 5, 1926 in Mooreton, North Dakota. At age 10, Pat and her family and other relatives moved to Idaho in 1936. In 1941, the family and some relatives moved to the Lubbock area and continued their farming endeavors in west Texas. Pat attended Lubbock High for one year and later graduated from Frenship High in 1944 as the valedictorian of her class. Pat then completed her formal education at Texas Tech. In 1946, Patricia married Harold S. Farrar, also a graduate of Frenship High, and the son of Frenship superintendent G.L. Farrar. To this union, two sons were born, Greg in 1949 and Kevan in 1954. Pat was a stay-at-home mom until both sons were in school. With both sons in school, Pat began a 27 year career with the Lubbock Independent School District as an elementary school secretary. Pat picked this position because it enabled her to work only when her two boys were in school. Pat was a very devoted wife, mother, friend, and school employee. Pats long and successful life was surrounded by many loving friends and family members. According to Pat, her happiest moments were the birth of her two sons, the birth of her granddaughter Lindsay, and the birth of her great-grandchildren, Talyn and Teagn. Patricia was preceded in death by her parents: Frank and Lillian Hafner, two sisters: Darlene and Lorraine, a brother, Lee, her husband, Harold, and her youngest son, Kevan, and many close friends and co-workers. Patricia is survived by a sister, Kathleen , her oldest son, Greg, a granddaughter, Lindsay and husband, Jason, four great-grandchildren, three special daughters-in-law, and long-time friend and companion Harold Hoffman. Memorial gifts can be made to Hospice of the South Plains in Lubbock. Obituary: Malone Farrar, one of the finest of the greatest generation, passed away Nov. 10, 2012. He will be sorely missed by all those who had the privilege of knowing and loving him. Malone was born in N. Zulch, Texas to Robert Malone Farrar and Sally Raymond Farrar Feb. 20, 1921. Malone joined the U.S. Navy at the age of 18. He served proudly in WWII in the Pacific Islands. He married the love of his life, Lorena (Rene) Hearn in Jan. 1943. had two daughters, Dorothy (Dottie) and Diane. Malone continue to serve in the Navy and the family moved wherever he was stationed, living in several states and in French Morocco. He became an accomplished aircraft mechanic as a Chief Petty Officer. Upon his retirement the family moved to Houston where he was employed as an aircraft mechanic at a private airfield. several years he began working for a paper supply company as a salesman, which he enjoyed for many years. Even after retirement, Malone continued to work for Randalls grocery stores for several years. The family attended the First Methodist Church in downtown Houston for many years. Upon moving to Sharpstown in the 70's, Malone and Rene joined the FUMC in Sugarland and became active members. Malone had become a Mason while living in Pensacola, Florida. He was recently recognized for his 60 years of service as a Mason. In Houston, Malone became active in the Shriners and was a member of the Legion of Honor. He gave of his time and talents tirelessly working in various capacities as a Shriner. He volunteered countless hours at the Shriner Hospital, on blood drives, driving children to and from the hospital, organizing and participating in numerous parades and Shrine Circus events. He was well liked and respected by all his fellow Shriners. Malone continued to learn and persue new skills throughout his life. He became an accomplished wood worker. He gave of his talents and time wherever they were needed in his family, his church or his community. He loved and supported his children and grandchildren unconditionally. Malone was preceded in death by all his brothers and sisters and his oldest daughter, Dottie (Apr. 1990). He is survived by his wife Lorena Farrar; his daughter, Diane Staudt (Beeville, TX); three grandsons, William Staudt and wife Mary (San Antonio), John Staudt and wife, Matilda (San Antonio); Jason Farrar Martin (Houston); one great grandchild, Collin Michael Staudt (Beeville) and many nieces and nephews. Rene and Malone would have been married 70 years in Jan. 2013. Malone was known for his friendliness, humility, honesty, loyalty and his unselfish desire to help others. Even in his sickest hours he showed more concern for his wife and others around him. He took great pride in having served his country and spoke often of those who gave their lives for their country. He had an excellent memory and told great stories of his years in the Navy and his WWII experiences. For the past two years Rene and Malone have lived at the Waterford in Deer Park, TX, where he quickly became a popular, well-liked resident. Those who loved and knew him could not have had a more devoted husband, father, brother, uncle, cousin, friend. He spoke ill of no one and respected others opinions (with the exception of some politicians). He will be sorely missed and never forgotten. |
