Obituary: Beloved Father, Harold Eldon Joe Farmer passed into Heaven on , Jan. 31st, in Grapevine, Texas. The long time Grand Prairie resident was reunited with his lifetime sweetheart and wife, LeBerta. Harold, nicknamed Little Joe by his father, was born in Grassy, Missouri on 25, 1931 to Agnes Lucinda Cooper Farmer and Charles Earl Farmer. He grew on his parents Glen Allen, Mo. farm and assisted in their country grocery store. At the tender age of thirteen little Joe started his truck driving career, hauling logs from the family sawmill. He graduated from Zalma High School in Zalma, Mo., where he was voted Most Handsome and, where he met the love of his life, beautiful Rachel LeBerta Duniphan. On Valentines Day 1949, they eloped to Pickett, Arkansas, and became united as husband and wife until Berties passing in May of 2008. Harold, a war veteran, loved America and was a true patriot. He proudly wore his Korean War Cap, showing his service to our country. He joined the Army in 1950 and served in the Army Corp of Engineers during the Korean War. Harold retired from Cooper and United Transport of Arlington, Texas, with over fifty years of hauling automobiles across the country. He received several driving awards for his excellence in safe driving and service. He had attended Calvary Temple Church of Irving Texas. Upon retirement, he and LeBerta purchased their dream home at Cedar Creek Lake, in Gun Barrel City, Texas, where you could find him fishing on the boat dock in his swim trunks and cowboy boots. He loved spending time, fishing, swimming or BBQing with his precious grandchildren, Kimi, Cody, Colt and Dylan. He also loved spending time in Hawaii and traveling to Hong Kong. Harold loved Elvis, Johnny Cash, George Jones, Dolly Pardon and many country stars. Even tho Harold was raised in southeast Missouri, he was a proud Texan and considered Texas his home. The welcome Farmer home was always filled with many friends and family members. He was currently residing in the Mountain Creek Retirement Community in Grand Prairie, Texas. Harold was preceded in passing is his beloved wife, LeBerta Duniphan Farmer; parents, Earl and Agnes Farmer; and brother Chester Matthews. Harold is survived by his three daughters: Teresa Farmer of Arlington, Texas, Kela Farmer of Grand Prairie, Texas, Jan Farmer Reilly of New River, Arizona; son-in-law Mike Reilly of New River, Az.; four grandchildren: Kimberly Humphries of Rockwall, Texas, Cody Mixon of Arlington, Texas, Colt Brown Reilly of New River, Arizona, Dylan Briggs of Keller, Texas; three great-grandchildren, In-laws: Bud and Charlotte Beck of Fairfax Station, Va., Dorothy Duniphan of Parker, Colo., Nancy Matthews of Gun Barrel City, Texas, multiple nieces, nephews, cousins, many friends and other distant family members. The Farmer family would like to send their love and appreciation to all the family and friends that Harold loved so much and to those who have lifted up their prayers and assistance to our precious Father. We have lost a large piece of our hearts but comforted by knowing that Dad is reunited in Heaven with our precious Mother. One of his last words spoken to his daughter Kela was that he was so happy that his three daughters were with him and that they were his diamonds. |

Obituary: Dr. Guss Dunn Farmer, Sr. Dr. Farmer passed peacefully from this life to heaven on 8, 2011, surrounded by family and caregivers. He was born to Reese and Fannie Lee Farmer on 27, 1916 in Dawson, Texas. He grew up there and attended Tarleton and Graduated from Abilene Christian . He received his Masters degree from So. Methodist University and completed an additional sixty hours of graduate level courses. He was awarded an honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters by Southwestern Christian . He preached for numerous Churches of Christ in Texas. He was a staff member of Southwestern for fifty-six years serving as head of the Bible department, teaching Bible and Greek. As a good teacher multiplies himself, Dr. Farmer taught hundreds of ministerial and other students who are scattered all over the world, filling pulpits and teaching others of Christ. With his academic qualifications he could have gone to many other Christian colleges and taught, but chose to stay at Southwestern to prepare many others to serve God there. In 2008 Guss and Janie were honored by SwCC as the Man and Woman of Valor at their yearly lectureship. Also, Dr. Farmer was honored by the Abilene Christian University of Biblical Studies with the Unsung Heroes Preacher Tribute Award in 2004 for his work with black ministers and Churches of Christ. His influence will be felt throughout Christendom from now on. He is survived by his devoted wife of over seventy years, Janie Farmer; a son Glynn Farmer and wife Jeanne and grand-daughter, Samantha of Albuquerque, New Mexico; a daughter, Annabel and husband Roger and grandchildren Corey Glass of Coppell and Lindsay Glass Campbell and her husband, Bob of Raleigh, North Carolina. He was preceded in death by a son, Guss Dunn Farmer, Jr. Also, he is survived and remembered by loving caregivers, especially Shaleda Buchanan, who loved and served him and Janie tirelessly, as well as a host of nieces and nephews and many friends. Donations in his honor can be made to Southwestern Christian and/or Arms of Hope. Visitation will be from 6-8PM on 10, 2011, at Grove Hill . service will be held at the White Rock Church of Christ, on 11, with interment to follow at Grove Hill Memorial Park. |

Obituary: Frances Farmer of McGregor died early morning, 22, 2010, at the age of 84. services will be 2:00 P.M. , 24, 2010, at Cole Chapel, 1113 West Fifth Street, McGregor with Rev. Carroll Hambrick officiating. Interment will follow in Post Oak near Oglesby. Visitation will be 6 to 8 P.M. at Cole . Mrs. Farmer was born 12, 1926, in Cleburne, Texas, the daughter f the late Roy Russell and Grace Mae (Miller) Smith and attended school in Cisco, Texas. In 1943, she became a McGregor resident, moving here from Moody, Texas. Frances was employed as an inspector from 1947 to 1949, with Waco Garment and later from 1949 until 1951, by Wolfe Manufacturing. On 2, 1944, she married Will I. Farmer in Gatesville, Texas. forty-two years of marriage, he preceded her in death 1, 1986. Throughout her life, Frances enjoyed doing things for others. She volunteered on a regular basis at Westview Manor in McGregor and was an active member of Avenue Baptist Church in McGregor before joining Beverly Hills Baptist Church in Waco. Also preceding her in death were three brothers, Roy Lee Smith, Gene Smith, J.E. Smith and a sister, Louise Anderson. Survivors include a sister, Tommie Lou Wilkerson of Temple; several nieces and nephews. Casketebearers will be J.T. Counts, Cliff Farmer, James Farmer, Jay Farmer, Kermit Farmer, David Glover, Tony Harrison and Weldon Wilkerson.
