Obituary: Walter Leslie Frankland, Jr age 91 of Jackson, passed away peacefully , 1, 2016 in Jackson, Tennessee. He was born 4, 1924 to Sarah Moore Frankland and Walter Leslie Frankland, Sr. Walter graduated from Jackson High in 1942, attended Marion Military Institute in Marion, Alabama in 1943 and graduated from the United States Military Academy in 1946 where he was commissioned a Second Lieutenant, United States Army. In 1955 he graduated from the University of Florida with a Masters degree in Journalism followed by graduation from the Ecole dEtat Major, Paris, France in 1959. In 1953 he graduated from the Armed Forces Staff in Norfolk, Virginia. Two days after his graduation from West Point, Walter married his high school sweetheart Carol Armstrong, also of Jackson. Thus began their life in the Army that would take them on assignments to Sasebo, Japan; Manhattan, Kansas; West Point, New York; Paris, France and Washington, DC. Walters military career took him all over the world and included assignments in the occupation Army of Japan after WWII; command of A , 1st Battalion, 23rd Infantry, 2nd Infantry Division during the Korean War from 1952 1953. He was also assigned to West Point, NY from 1956 1958 where he was responsible for the filming, and making several cameo appearances, of the Ziv television production of 39 films for the West Point Story series. He also coordinated the first telecast of a West Point graduation ceremony. Walter and his family moved to Arlington, Virginia in 1964 where he retired from the Army in 1966 as a Lieutenant Colonel to become Executive Vice President of the Silver Users Association. In this capacity he represented the silver industry with the media, government and public in the U.S. and abroad often testifying before Congressional Committees concerning legislative proposals. Walter had a strong civic commitment and was twice elected to the Arlington Board, Arlington, Virginia serving for 8 years to include being the Chairman in 1980. While Chairman Walter was credited in one publication as having been responsible for the largest tax cut in county history. Walter and Carol returned home to Jackson in 2012. Walter was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Carol Armstrong Frankland, by his brother Hays Moore Frankland Sr, by his mother Sarah Moore Frankland and by his father Walter Leslie Frankland, Sr. Survivors include his son Lieutenant Colonel (ret) Walter Leslie Frankland, III and his wife Daun of Arlington, Virginia. Daughter Mary Elizabeth Frankland of Palm Coast, Florida. Sister-in-law, Francis Frankland of Jackson. Beloved niece Elizabeth Lawrence Gibson of Scottsdale, AZ, cousin, sister-in-law, Phyllis Frankland Armstrong of Jackson. His three grandchildren Cadet Leslie Veitch Frankland, United States Military Academy, West Point, NY; John Frankland of Conway, North Carolina and Elizabeth Frankland of Palm Coast, Florida. The family has requested that memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer's Association. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. - 11 a.m. on , 4, 2016 at George A. Obituary: Frank Jackson Huffman, Jr. 2, 1946 19, 2011. With hearts both heavy and joyful, the family of Frank Jackson Huffman, Jr., announces his peaceful death at home on evening, 19. Frank grew up in Steele, Missouri, completing high school at the Webb School in Bell Buckle, Tennessee in 1962. He graduated from Duke University with a BA in History with Honors in 1966, and received his PhD in History from Yale University in 1974. Frank was an instructor of history at the University of Houston from 1970 until 1976, when he moved to Memphis and joined the Crump Companies as Assistant to the Chief Financial Officer. He remained with Crump and its successor companies for many years, ultimately serving as Senior Vice President and Director of Corporate Communications for Sedgwick Claims Management Services, Inc., until his death. During his career he also served as Director of Corporate Communications and Human Resources at eOn Communications; and as Director of the Memphis-based Day Foundation. Active in the Memphis community, Frank was a member of Second Baptist Church from 1976 until his death. He joyously sang tenor in the choir, was the founding Director of the Memphis Interfaith Hospitality Network (MIHN) at Second Baptist, and served at different points as a deacon, a School teacher, and an enthusiastic Lassie Girls Basketball coach. Frank was also Vice President and Member of the Board of Directors of Samaritan Counseling s of the Mid-South, and the former President of the Memphis Chapter of the national Multiple Sclerosis Society. Frank is survived by his beloved wife of 44 years, Katharine Phillips Huffman, and their three children and their families: Katharine Huffman, John Rusciolelli, and children, Dominic Frank and Mary Katharine; Dora Huffman Mullenix, Jason Mullenix, and children, Joshua Phillips, Katharine Rebekah, and Noah Jackson; and Frank Jackson Huffman III, and Abby May. He is also survived by his sister, Martha Huffman; his mother-in-law, Katharine Aiken Phillips; and many wonderful nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, and in-laws. He was predeceased by his parents, Frank Jackson Huffman, Sr., and Dora Coppedge Huffman; and by his sister, Rebekah Huffman Dietrich. Franks greatest joys were, as he put it, in these family relationships. He loved reading, singing, traveling, golfing with good friends, and attending the activities and events of children and grandchildren. Even in the final days of his life, Frank spoke frequently of his gratitude for the constant and loving support of family and many friends. He asked that his appreciation be conveyed for the role that so many played in making the presence of God so real for him during his year-long battle with pancreatic cancer. Franks family will remember him always with great love and delight, and with appreciation for his living exemplification of a favorite verse from the Bible: What doth the Lord require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God? Obituary: Wanda Fay Moore Frank, 73-years-old, passed away on , 3, 2015, at the University of Tennessee Medical with her family by her side. She was born on May 31, 1942 in Sevierville, TN to the late Harvey and Ida Ruth Moore. Wanda never met a stranger. Her infectious laugh and beautiful smile drew people to her. She made everyone feel special and loved. Her life was full of joy and humor even through the crippling pain of severe rheumatoid arthritis. She loved traveling, shopping, and people watching. Wanda met her wonderful husband of 53 years, John Wayne Frank, while at Porter High School. The family they made was her whole world. If you met Wanda you heard all about them. Wanda was so proud of her roles of wife, mother, and meme.
