Obituary: FLACY, Margaret Ramona Murff - Age 86. Died on 29, 2014. She was born on May 30, 1928 in Nashville, Tennessee. She attended elementary school and high school in Davidson , Tennessee. She graduated from Isaac Litton High School in Davidson , Tennessee in 1946. She took piano lessons and voice lessons for several years. She married Robert Bruce Flacy on 20, 1950 and she was his faithful partner for better and for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, and loved and cherished him until parted by his death in 2005. She worked as a key punch operator at National Life & Casualty Insurance in Nashville, Tennessee and at Sperry Gyroscope in Great Neck, Long Island, New York. She was also employed at Martin Methodist in Pulaski, Tennessee as a secretary and at Holleys Printing in Pulaski, Tennessee as bookkeeper/receptionist. She later worked as a receptionist/secretary in the law office of her daughter in Pulaski, Tennessee and in Ardmore, Alabama. She earned State of Tennessee diplomas in the areas of Bookkeeper I and General Secretary from the Area Vocational-Technical School located at Pulaski, Tennessee. During her lifes journey she lived in Nashville, Tennessee; Great Neck, Long Island, New York; El Paso, Texas; Port Clinton, Ohio; Aberdeen, Maryland; Wiesbaden, Germany; Salt Lake City, Utah; Clearwater, Florida; Huntsville, Alabama; and Ardmore, Tennessee. She had been a resident of Giles , Tennessee for 50 years at the time of her death and throughout that time raised black Angus cattle. She received the Sacrament of Confirmation at St. Bedes Episcopal Church in St. Petersburg, Florida on 18, 1960. Elected six times, she served as a Giles Commissioner for District I from of 1990 - of 2014. She was a member of the Ardmore Lions Club. She was a former board member of the Ardmore Public Library in Ardmore, Tennessee and a former School teacher. She was the caretaker of her elderly mother until her death at the age of 102 years old and in later years also was the caretaker of her husband who suffered from Parkinsons disease until his death. She was temporarily staying at NHC -Pulaski for rehabilitation services at the time of her death. She loved her children and her husband and family, her dogs and her cats, her black cat Merlin, growing a garden and harvesting its bounty, working crossword puzzles, solving jigsaw puzzles, working in the yard, growing flowers and roses, living on a farm, reading, playing bridge, bowling, gathering her pecans and black walnuts and Chinese chestnuts from the trees she had planted, and serving her community wherever she lived. Visitation will be on , 7th from 12:00 until 2:00pm at Bennett-May-Giles . Graveside memorial services will follow visitation on at 2:30pm in Prospect with Rev. Carolyn Keck officiating. Memorial donations are suggested to the Parkinsons Disease Foundation, American Cancer Society, Giles Public Library of the Tennessee Lions School for the Blind. She is survived by one daughter Shara Ann Flacy of Ardmore, Tennessee and one son Mark Adrian Flacy (wife Lucy Jan-Flacy) of Carrollton, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Sumner Murff and Margaret Elizabeth Ransdell Murff of Henrietta, Tennessee; her brother George Winton Murff of Henrietta, Tennessee; her brother Charles Anderson Murff of Nashville, Tennessee; her paternal grandparents Thomas Granville Murff and Minerva Williams Murff of Montgomery , Tennessee; and her maternal grandparents Wiley Ransdell and Harriette Nicholson Ransdell of Henrietta, Tennessee. Obituary: Irene Couey Flack, age 90, passed away on May 20, 2015. Preceded in death by her husband, Leldon M. Flack; parents Ed and Lottie Couey; sister, Christine Maner and brother Roy (Buddy) Couey. Irene is survived by her daughter Linda Garner and her husband Mickey of Brentwood, Tennessee; grandson Dr. Matthew Garner and his wife Lily of Mechanicsville, Maryland; sister Barbara Maples of Decatur, Alabama and several nieces and nephews. Irene was a member of Central Baptist Church in Decatur. She also was a member of the Pilot Club and the American Business Women Association. Irene retired from the Decatur Daily where she worked for 33 years. We would like to thank the residents and staff of NHC Cool Springs for their friendships, their love, and the excellent care that she received during the 6 years that she lived there. To honor and celebrate Irene’s life, there will be service on , May 23, 2015 at one o’clock in the afternoon in Woodlawn’s Dignity Hall conducted by Dr. Lynn Hill. Gathering of family and friends will be on May 22, 2015 from four o’clock until seven o’clock and one hour prior to the service at Woodlawn Roesch Patton . Interment to follow the service in Woodlawn Memorial Park. Memorial Contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital. |
