Preceded in death by parents, Herman D. and Hazel Fish, of NY; daughter, Lisa Mary Fish; sister, Elsie Gentile, r, Jack, John, and Thomas Fish. He was retired from the Air Force and the Air National Guard with years of service from 1956-1988. He was of the Baptist Faith. He ranked E-8 Senior Master Sargeant and received an Airman Medal for the highest medal received without being wounded for being the first to respond on the scene of a helicopter crash. Survived by wife Linda Taylor-Fish; children, Rebecca Lorimer and husband Dennis, Stephanie Macias, James H.L. Fish and wife Cheryl; 5 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; 2 step children, Chris Gunnell and wife Suzanne, and Vicki Clark; granddaughter, Taylor Nicole Clark; 4 step grandchildren; brothers, Larry and Darlene, Bill and Sandy, and Randy and Emily. He was a loving husband and father. He retired from Eastman Kodak following 42 years of service. He was a World War II Veteran and served in the U.S. Army 752nd Engineers assigned to the European Theatre. Obituary: James Herbert Fiser (92), born 15, 1922 in Morrilton, AR, died , 29, 2015. He grew up in Morrilton and attended Arkansas Tech before enlisting in the U.S. Navy on 9, 1941. He became a pilot, flying bombers off of aircraft carriers in the Pacific Ocean. He married Betty May Sallis of Russelville, AR, on 6, 1943, and they honeymooned along the route to his pilot training in Massachusetts. WWII ended, he remained in the Naval Reserves until he retired as Captain in 1964. He completed his undergraduate and masters degrees at the University of Arkansas. Jamie and Betty raised their two children in Arkansas, Texas, Indiana and Michigan as he worked in education, manufacturing plant management, and sales. moved to Memphis in 1973, where he said he could look across the river to the Promised Land. Jamie is survived by his wife of more than 71 years, Betty; their son, James Michael Fiser of Ashland, MS; daughter B.J. (Fiser) Jones (Chip) of Roswell, GA; grandchildren Oliver Jones (Ashley) of Canton, GA; Andrew Jones of Edinburgh, Scotland; and Maggie Jones of Athens, GA; and great-grandsons Owen and Eli Jones of Canton, GA. These few biographical words do little to represent the beloved husband, father, father-in-law, grand and great-grandfather, brother, uncle, friend, mentor, teacher, citizen and man of faith that Jamie was; he will be deeply missed. Born in Clarksville, AR on 12, 1923, to Lucy Yearwood Sallis and John Wallace Sallis, Betty was raised in Clarksville and Russellville, AR, graduated from Russellville High School and attended the of the Ozarks in Clarksville. She married James H. Fiser (Jamie) on 6, 1943, while he was home on leave from the U.S. Navy. Bettys career mirrored Jamies: she worked in a munitions factory in North Little Rock while he flew Navy bombers over the Pacific; she was a bank bookkeeper while he finished college and graduate school at the University of Arkansas; she began a private kindergarten while he taught high school agriculture in Booneville, AR; and she became manager of the home when their children came along and he began his career in manufacturing management and sales. As Jamies work moved the family to Texas, Indiana, Michigan, and finally Memphis, Betty made sure that her home was welcoming and her community was served. She volunteered at church and school, led Scout troops, worked with the underserved, and graciously opened her home to family, neighbors and friends. She was a 65-year member of the P.E.O. sisterhood, serving as an officer in every chapter she joined. She was truly a wife of noble character whose children arise and call her blessed. (Prov. 31), and she inspired many as she lived out the advice written on a splattered plaque that hung in every one of her kitchens Bloom where you are planted. Above all, Betty and Jamie were a team, a wonderful example of a loving, fun, supportive, and commitment-focused marriage. Betty was predeceased by her parents, siblings, and Jamie, her husband of 72 years. She is survived by their son, James Michael Fiser of Ashland, MS; daughter B.J. Fiser Jones (Chip) of Roswell, GA; grandchildren Oliver Jones (Ashley) of Roswell; Andrew Jones of Edinburgh, Scotland (fiancée Margaret Rose Knox of Marietta, GA); and Maggie Jones of Roswell; great-grandsons Owen and Eli Jones of Roswell; her sister-in-law Marilyn Sallis of Nashville, TN; and many beloved nieces and nephews. The family also wants to express their deep gratitude to Glenda Gigi Jamison for her 6 years of loving care and faithful service to Betty, who loved Gigi like a daughter. A memorial service will be held on , 3, 2016 at Germantown United Methodist Church, 2331 S. Germantown Road, Germantown, TN 38138, with visitation at 1 p.m. and service at 2 p.m. A family burial will follow in Morrilton, AR on , 4, 2016.
