Obituary: Bob was born and raised in Santa Cruz, CA. serving in World War II, he received his Degree in Architecture from the University of California, Berkeley and subsequently moved to Bakersfield with his wife, Anne, to rebuild Bakersfield after the earthquake of 1952. Bob worked for Wright, Metcalf and Parson and was instrumental in the design of the new Bakersfield campus "on the Hill". He formed a partnership with Frank Ghezzi in the mid 60's and then joined with Biggar and Cartnal to become BFGC Architects. Bob and Anne were blessed with the births of 3 daughters and 1 son. both loved the Lord and were instrumental in establishing Bible Study Fellowship classes in the Bakersfield area serving as discussion leaders for many years. Bob was among a core of men who became the building committee that built the original Fruitvale Community Church hosting many work parties. In addition, he and Anne would open their arms and home to new people for the Brunch. Bob was involved in many community organizations and served on the Bakersfield Planning Commission, Bakersfield Community Concerts, Bakersfield East Rotary Club as well as numerous church plants. He was called to his Heavenly by God on 5, 2016. Among those who welcomed him to Heaven were Anne, his wife of 53 years, and granddaughter, Jordyn. He is survived by Joan & Steve Mettler (Clovis), Jan & Bill Black (Bakersfield), Judy & Bill DeNio (W. Granby, CT) and Jeff & Lauren Frapwell (Bakersfield) as well as 12 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. A Celebration of Life will be held at River Lakes Community Church, 4301 Calloway Dr., 15, 2016 at 11 AM with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, please consider donation to the Jesus Film Project, Voice of the Martyrs, or World Vision. Obituary: Bert was born on 13, 1926, in Karlskoga, Sweden. He came to America when he was two years old and his family settled in Southern California. Bert became a US citizen in 1932. Bert had a born talent for carpentry. He started working in his teens and quickly impressed his supervisors. He was proud to have worked in Hollywood on some of the stars homes, including Shirley Temple and Ingrid Bergman. Bert also loved music. He was a great singer and loved to sing classic songs, such as Danny Boy and Ave Maria. Bert and Dorothy met at work and were married 10, 1962. Dorothy had three children, Linda, Rebbecca and Barbie. Bert adopted Rebbecca and Barbie in 1968. Bert and Dorothy had two children, Erika and Kate. Dorothy was the light of Berts life, and he absolutely adored being a husband and father. Bert and Dorothy settled in Carmichael, where he worked for years as a construction superintendent, and then became a building inspector for Sacramento . He loved construction, and he and Dorothy would plan a project morning and it would be complete by night. took great joy in remodeling and redecorating the house. Dorothy passed away in 1991, Bert became a social butterfly throughout the Carmichael area. He especially loved his time at Bel Air and all of the people that he met there. He was well known for his smile and sense of humor. Bert touched a lot of lives. His positive spirit was contagious and he lived with gusto until the very end. |
