Obituary: Henry (Hank) Fischer Born 23, 1942 passed away 1, 2011. Hank was born to Edna and Henry Fischer in Santa Rosa, California. Hanks family moved to Bayside when he was five, into a home built by Hanks father. Hank attended local schools including graduating from Arcata High School in 1960. He immediately joined the Coast Guard; upon his discharge he attended Santa Rosa Junior then Humboldt State University. While at Humboldt State he was a member of the 1968 Camilla Bowl Championship football team. Upon leaving Humboldt State, Hank fished commercially and eventually became a correctional officer in the California State Prison system working at San Quentin and Pelican Bay. retiring from the prison system he worked for Mercer Frasier and then for the Pacific Maritime Association/International Longshore & Warehouse Union as a very proud "A Man". Hank passed away unexpectedly on his boat while working for PMA doing two of the things he loved, driving his boat around the Humboldt Bay and working for PMA. He loved spending time with family and friends, fishing, the ocean and animals, especially his cats. Hank was married to his "Honey Buns" Frannie Fischer for almost 13 years. He also leaves behind his mother Mrs. Edna Fischer; his children daughter Cyndi Fischer (Spencer Griffith), son Jamey Fischer; and his incredible grandchildren Clara, Molly, Riley and Jovie. Hank also leaves behind his sister Jill Galles (Stewart Galles) and several nieces and nephews. Hank was preceded in death by his father Henry Fischer Sr. and his brother James Fischer. A celebration of Hanks life will be held on 7th at the Elks Lodge from Noon to 4PM. Donations may be made in his memory to the Humboldt State football team c/o HSU Football Arcata CA; or the Sequoia Humane Society, 6073 Loma Lane, Eureka, CA. Obituary: Harvey Clayton Fischer, 82, passed away on , 14th, 2015 at his home in Applegate following a lengthy illness. He was born and raised in Eastern North Dakota where he lived on a farm with his parents, eleven brothers, and one sister. Upon graduation of high school, he served with distinction in the United States Navy from 1952 to 1956 including tours of Korea and Vietnam. He married his wife, Denise Fischer, on 6th, 1955. graduating from college, Harvey accepted a job with Martin Marietta in Denver, Colorado. He later moved his family to California where he opened his own Electrical Contracting company, Fischer Electric, and the business survives today. He leaves his wife of 60 years, Denise; two sons, Tim and Scott; a daughter, Nancy; and six grandchildren, Justin, Lindy, Jackie, Megan, Sam and Jordan. He also leaves two great grandchildren, Emily and Ryan, who brought a smile to his face even in his final days. He was blessed with a large family of nieces and nephews, along with his surviving brothers, who will miss him dearly. |

Obituary: VENTURA, Calif. .. Harrison David Fischer Jr., a 47 year county resident and former chairman of the Ventura Harbor Port District Commission, passed away on 24 from complications of a hip fracture and Parkinsons disease in the company of family. Services will be at the Ted Mayr , 3150 Loma Vista Road, Ventura, on 16th at 2 p.m. Harrison Fischer was born on 11, 1923, in Springfield, Ill., to Harrison David and Agnes Virginia Fischer. He graduated from Decatur High School in 1941, and then attended Millikin University for two years. In 1943, he joined the Navys Training Program and went to the Illinois Institute of Technology to study electrical engineering. He was commissioned as a Navy Ensign and assigned to the Navys Civil Engineering Corp Officers School. While in the service, he met and married his first wife, Marjorie Atkinson, with whom he had four children. He was discharged in 1946 and returned to Illinois Tech to complete his engineering degree, which he received in 1947. Later that year he moved to California to start a 33-year career for Southern California Edison . One of his first jobs was to scout for transmission tower locations in Saticoy. Later he designed many of the towers now running through Ventura . While employed, he earned his Masters Degree at UCLA. He retired from Edison in 1980 as an Assistant Division Manager. In 1968, he married his second wife, Mary Ann Wallick, who had three children from a previous marriage. shared a great life together, especially the joy they received from all of their children and grandchildren, watching college and professional football games, attending dance club events, weekly bridge and golf games and numerous social events. Needless to say, their life was full, friends were plentiful and happiness abundant. In 1970 Harrison became a member of the Ventura Harbor Port District commission, serving 12 years including a 4-year term as its Chairman. He was involved in rebuilding the harbor after the devastating floods of 1969 and was instrumental in making sure that the headquarters for the Channel Islands National Park and visitor center were located in Ventura Harbor. Although he was an exceptionally accomplished man, Harrison will best be remembered for his sense of humor, kind heart, and gentle loving spirit. Harrison is survived by his wife, Mary Ann Fischer, and six children; David Robert Fischer (Shirley), Kathy Wallick Becker (John), Sandy Wallick Supple (Terry), Gena Elizabeth Fischer, Patty Fischer Anixter (Ben), and Clayton Harrison Fischer (Sue). Additionally, he is survived by eleven grandchildren; Honey Fischer Taheri, Kristine Becker Spagnolo, Karen Becker Mallaber, John Anthony Becker, Anne Supple Hirou, Michael Sean Supple, Sierra Wallick Bernstein, Daniel Ryan Supple, Heidi Jean Fischer, Emily Fischer Long, and Harrison David Anixter, . He is also survived by eleven great grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter. He was predeceased by son and grandson, Michael and Jeracho Wallick, and two sisters Laurabelle Fischer Moesel and Elizabeth Fischer Munkres. The family wishes to extend a very special thank you to all the thoughtful and attentive staff at The Palms at Bonaventure for their loving care of Harrison. The family also extends its gratitude to the compassionate caregivers of Vitas Hospice.
