Obituary: Raymond J. Fimbres, Jr. was one of four children born to Carmen and Ray Fimbres of Sonora, Mexico on 24, 1937. He passed away peacefully, in his sleep on 19, 2015 in Fresno, CA. Ray attended St. John's Grammar School and San Joaquin Memorial High School in Fresno. He was on the football, swimming and diving teams. He graduated from Fresno State in 1960 with a BS Degree in Criminology. It was during his college career that he was again on the diving team, having lettered and placed second in the state in diving. He was a also a member of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity, Campus Police and the Ski Patrol at Badger Pass. Ray also served in the Air National Guard. Ray was so proud of his Mexican heritage, his family and his friends. Between him and his wife, Linnea Angela Elizalde Fimbres, there was hardly a person in the greater Fresno area that they did not know. Linnea and Ray were married 29, 1961 and were together for over 50 years, until her death in 2011. Ray met Linnea while they both were employed at Royal Globe Insurance in the late 1950's. Ray later worked at Brown Brothers Insurance Adjusters. In 1972, Ray founded Fimbres Insurance Adjusters, a highly successful and well known company, which he and Linnea owned and operated for over 25 years. Ray was a long time member and past President of the California Association of Independent Adjusters, San Joaquin Country Club and St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Fresno. Ray was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He loved his heritage, and was proud to share the history of his culture and family. If you were a friend of Ray's, he always had time to spend with you. He could be counted on to lend a helping hand. Golf was his passion. He could frequently be found on the golf course, laughing and sharing a joke with his friends. Ray was preceded in death by his wife, Linnea; parents, Carmen and Ray; only sister, Polly Cardenas; and his beloved nephew Raul "Porky" Fimbres. Ray leaves behind his brothers, Victor Fimbres of Palm Springs and Richard Fimbres of Fresno; sister-in-law, Mona Elliott and her husband Marion of Manteca; his children: sons, Scott and wife, KoKo Fimbres, of Fresno; and Mark Fimbres of Fresno; daughter, Rae Ann Boyett and husband David of Corcoran. Ray was so proud of his grandchildren, Michael Hicks, Raymond "RJ" Fimbres, Margaux Fimbres, Phillip Boyett and Bryn Anne Boyett. Also missing Ray are numerous nieces; nephews; cousins; and friends. Visitation will be held at Whitehurst, Sullivan, Burns & Blair on , 29, 2015, from 12:00 noon to 4:00 p.m. followed by Recitation of the Holy Rosary at 4:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church on , 30, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. Remembrances may be made to the Nazareth House, 2121 N. First St, Fresno 93703, or Poverello House, 412 F Street, Fresno 93706. |
