Obituary: Mr. Rugiero B. Figueroa was known as many things to many people. He was a loved one, a friend, and someone special. To family and friends who knew him best, Rugiero will be remembered as a very exceptional person. Rugiero was born on 16, 1940 in Aguililla, Michoacan. He was the son of Rogelio and Liduvina Figueroa. Rugiero grew up in Mexico. Rugiero was raised with thirteen siblings. Rugiero was usually involved in all sorts of activities with his siblings. He and his siblings experienced rivalries typical of a growing family, but they shared many life experiences over the years. As a young boy, Rugiero had a number of interests. Like most children, he enjoyed playing and making up games. He was curious about the world around him and was often eager to explore it. Rugiero was an active child who took part in volleyball. However, to Rugiero, the most fun to be had was simply playing and spending time with his friends. Rugiero was married to Edelmira Pena on 7, 1966 in Aguililla, Michoacan, Mexico. Empathic and loyal, Rugiero was committed to making his new family happy. Rugiero worked hard to be a good father to his children and he did his best to fulfill their needs. Rugiero was blessed with five children, one son, Victor, and four daughters, Yesenia, Martha, Blanca and Yanel. Another blessing for Rugiero was the gift of sixteen grandchildren, Lui, Cassandra, Bianca, Andrew, Monica, Noel, Veronica, Chelsea, Gregory, Giselle, Isaac, Victoria, Isabella, Aliyah, Melody, and Elyan. Fortunately, Rugiero enjoyed what he did for a living. Showing a strong work ethic, Rugiero worked diligently and did his best to succeed in his career. His primary occupation was as a chef. Rugiero always sought to be a team player, doing what was necessary in order to get the job done. Rugiero enjoyed his leisure time by taking part in various hobbies. His favorite pursuits were playing dominoes. He was content to enjoy his favorite pastimes alone but was also willing to share his interests with others. Rugiero found pleasure in sports. Rugiero was something of a sports fan and enjoyed following his favorite events whenever he had the chance to do so. Tops on his list were soccer. Rugiero enjoyed traveling and time away on vacations. It was a chance for him to renew and relax, to visit new places and experience new things. Favorite vacations included Mexico. Rugiero passed away on 18, 2015 at Sequoia Hospital in Redwood City, California due to a cardiac arrest. He is survived by his wife, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, mother, brothers, and sisters. Services were held at Saint John Vianney Church in San Jose, California. Rugiero was laid to rest in Oak Hill and Memorial Park in San Jose, California. Simply stated, Rugiero was a good and kind person, an individual who will for all time be remembered by his family and friends as being a caring and giving person, someone who was a vital part of their lives. Rugiero leaves behind him a legacy of life-long friendships and many cherished memories. Everyone whose life he touched will always remember Rugiero B. Figueroa. |

Obituary: Another honorable WWII veteran of the US Navy who graced us on earth has passed on. Raul Figueroa passed away 1, 2014, @ 8:15 am. He went peacefully with his wife and daughter by his side, after a long battle with health issues. His strength and resilience amazed us so many times. He lived a very full life and was loved by all. He was so very proud of being a seaman at the end of WWII. He spent his two Navy years in Pearl Harbor, chasing the hula girls and driving Earl Warren in his jeep. He was a seaman at heart for his whole life and loved Hawaii. He was a Teamster and drove trucks for more than 40 years. He watched Las Vegas grow from a small town to what it is today as he made 2-3 round trips a week from LA, delivering produce to Las Vegas. Raul was born on 22, 1928 and passed away on , 1, 2014. Raul was a resident of Buena Park, California for 57 years. He was the original owner of the house that he passed away in. We were able to honor his wishes to go peacefully at home surrounded by all that loved him. He joins his first wife, Evelyn, who lost her battle with cancer in 1983. He went on with his life and united with his present wife, Mary, in 1987. He is also survived by his 3 daughters: Rosalie, Vivian, and Renee, three brothers: Alex, Ronnie, Henry and sister Esther. His daughters along with his Stepson Glenn provided him with 13 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. his Teamster retirement from Smiths, he and Mary enjoyed traveling far and wide and being with all his extended family. He liked his Tequila, Jack Daniels, and Johnny Walker Scotch. He loved to cook and barbecue and did much entertaining. His house has always been called the party house as it is on La Fiesta (the party) Drive. He had so many memorable get-togethers playing host. We will always remember Raul as a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, godfather, uncle, brother and a good friend. He had a heart of gold and always helped others. All of those that knew him will agree how Raul was the most honest, happy-go-lucky and loving person that you will ever meet. In a tribute to Rauls love of Hawaii and honoring his Navy service time he spent at Pearl Harbor, we request that you not wear black and wear a Hawaiian shirt, dress, skirt, lei, etc. Flowers may be sent to the Mortuary or in lieu of flowers consideration for donations be made to one of two charities in memory of Raul Figueroa.
