Obituary: In the song of life, Shirley Delores Fenderson was surely the composer. A very observant, wise and astute woman, Shirley preferred to live in a world of harmony where everything around her made sense. A sweet and loving person, Shirley believed that actions definitely spoke for themselves. She seemed to embrace the world and those in it without regard for a persons station in life. She was a giver to all who knew her. There was never a time when she did not pause to take care of the needs of others. Often placing others before herself Shirley was known by those who knew her for her loving and selfless way of living. She was a woman who was always ready to share every aspect of her life with those around her. She was the epitome of sacrifice and grace. Her parents were Iris (Stevens) and Sylvester Murray. Shirley was raised in Kingston, Jamaica. As a young child, Shirley was optimistic in her outlook. She sought out the possibilities in a given situation and looked for ways to make her life meaningful and memorable. She was a humble and sweet human being who rarely called attention to herself, but instead uplifted others. Early on in her family relationships, Shirley showed that she was a caring, compassionate person who wanted to ensure that everyone around her was OK. Her favorite greeting to those she knew was You doing OK Are you alright? Shirley was raised with four siblings. were Barry, Leroy, Ronald (Clan) and Pat. She was a calm and loving sibling who was adaptable to any situation. As she was growing up, Shirley developed into a person who enjoyed being with friends and family. In her spare time she liked to read and she continued this hobby even as an adult. In college, Shirley showed that she was able to focus on what was necessary. She found it quite easy to dive headlong into classes, especially those that truly interested her. She was able to move comfortably through a wide variety of courses and she ultimately earned her Associates Degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management. She loved to help her classmates and thrived with group activities. Shirley was a kind and sensitive person who never forced her opinions and values on others. Close friends knew that her kindness was unmatched, and once you became a friend of Shirleys, you understood how true a friend she could be. While growing up, some of her best friends were Hyacinth and Joy. Later in life, she remained friends with Joy Adams. A person who was sensitive to others feelings, Shirley had the ability to become completely devoted to others. Shirley was exceptionally sympathetic and compassionate when it came to her children. She would often say that her children and her sister Patricia were her best friends. These emotional bonds made her a treasure. She gave her family unconditional love and kindness, never hesitating to lend a helping hand in any situation. Shirley was blessed with three children, Janel, Michael and Sandra. She was also blessed with three grandchildren, Tremayne, Ashley and Rebecca. Shirley found ways to enjoy what she did for a living. She worked hard and did her best to succeed every day. Her primary occupation was in Hotel and Restaurant Management. She was employed at the Poinciana Hotel and Resort in Negril, Jamaica. Shirley was a team player and she was greatly loved and admired by her co-workers. Shirley enjoyed her leisure time by taking part in various hobbies. Her favorite pursuits were reading. She was content to enjoy her hobbies alone but was also willing to share her interests with others. She was relaxed in her approach to her leisure time and particularly enjoyed savoring moments with her family. Shirleys faith was important to her. She was a lady of strong Christian faith and this was manifested in the quality of life that she lead whereby she took care of the poor and needy and extended love and support to those who many thought were unlovable by others. Shirley passed away peacefully on 6, 2010 at her home in Banning, CA. She fought a brave battle against cancer. She is survived by her children, Janel, Michael and Sandra; sister, Patricia Roberts and brother, Clan Stevens; grandchildren, Tremayne, Ashley and Rebecca; Sons-in-law, Dr. Barrington Lynch and Sabino Llecholech. Services were held at Weaver Mortuary in Beaumont, CA. Shirley was laid to rest in private. Shirley was a beautiful, good, kind woman of impeccable character. She will always be remembered by her family and friends as being warm and deeply caring. She leaves behind her a treasury of life-long friendships and wonderful memories. Shirley always had much to give and was able to make those connections in her life where her gifts were appreciated. Shirley was a faithful and devoted mother and friend. Everyone whose life she touched will always remember Shirley Delores Fenderson. |
