Obituary: Virginia Fechner (nee Williams) passed away on , May 28, 2016 in Hesperia, California. She was 92 years old, born on 7, 1923 in Higgins, Texas, Lipscomb . She lived most of her early years on her parents’ farm in Higgins and graduated from Higgins High School in 1941. She played the clarinet in the high school marching band and was a pitcher on the girls’ softball team. Many of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren inherited her musical talent. Virginia was a stay-at-home-Mom until her children were older; then, she began working in sewing factories in Sunland-Tujunga, where she lived from 1960-1986. Virginia was a competent seamstress, taught all her daughters how to sew and enjoyed making quilts for all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren until 2011. She was also active in the Church of the Nazarene in Tujunga, CA as a church pianist and school teacher. Virginia moved to Hesperia in 1986 and has been a resident here for the past 30 years. Her ex-husband, Robert Fechner, a grandson, Clinton Littlefield, and infant great-grandson, Seth Das Gupta, preceded her in death. She is survived by a younger brother Carlos Williams of Shattuck, OK, a younger sister Velora Ann Phelps of Eugene, OR, and seven children, Patricia Haney of Upland, CA, Shirley Littlefield of Oak Hills, CA, Merlin Fechner of Milledgeville, GA, Charlene Joyce of Springhill, LA, Larry Fechner of Tujunga, CA, Sandra Tempel of Mt. Ida, AR, Gina Grimm of Spring Valley Lake, CA. She was a loving Grandmother to 16 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. Services have been scheduled for 11, 2016 at Desert View and Memorial Park, 11478 Amargosa Rd., Victorville, as follows: Viewing: 1 – 3 P.M.; Graveside Service: 3 P.M. and Memorial Service at 4 P.M. |
