Obituary: Louis G. Frank, 95, Oklahoma City, OK, passed away 29, 2015. He was born 1, 1920 to George H. Frank Sr. and Rosa M. Frank, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He graduated from Classen High School in 1939. Louis was a proud veteran of both World War II and the Korean War. During WWII, he was a top turret gunner and flight mechanic. He was part of a crew who flew 51 missions over Italy, France, Yugoslavia and Romania. During the Korean War, he served as a mechanic. He helped disassembled planes at Camp Polk, LA to put on a boat to Japan via the Panama Canal. Once the planes reached Japan, the planes were reassembled for use in the Korean War. In 1946 he met his lifelong soul mate, Billye Louise Yoakum. were married in 1946 and raised 3 daughters. Louis worked for Ceco Corporation and continued his schooling with night classes. He graduated from OCU in 1960. He continued working for Ceco until his retirement in 1985. Louis was Billyes caregiver for several years before she died as a result of complications from Alzheimers disease. her death in 2001, he re-evaluated his life and started a new career as a volunteer. He worked for several years at Third Age Life, Integris Baptist Hospital and Mercy . He delivered Meals on Wheels for NW Christian Church and donated regularly to the Oklahoma Blood Institute. Earlier this year, he had to retire from volunteer work due to heath issues. He was a longtime member of NW Christian Church. Louis was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Flo Kratzer and Betty Thomas, and great grandson Zach Collins. He is survived by his brother George Frank Jr,; daughters Terrye Hamill (Harold), Karen Recer (Ron) and Dana Frank; three grandsons, James Collins, Scott Hamill and T. J. Hamill; and 6 great grandchildren, Hunter Collins, Paige Collins, Alyssa Hamill, Tristen Hamill, Greyson Hamill and Brynn Hamill. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation (www.omrf.org). |
