Obituary: Virginia L. Fergel, 75, Mandan, passed away May 31, 2017 at CHI St. Alexius in Bismarck. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am on , 7, 2017 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Mandan, ND with Rev. Shane Campbell as celebrant. Burial will be at North Dakota Veterans . Visitation will be held , 6, 2017 from 4:00-8:00 pm at Weigel , with a Rosary/Parish Vigil at 7:00 pm. Visitation will continue at the church one hour prior to the service on . Virginia was born in Elgin, ND on 12, 1941 to Anton and Eva (Loeb) Kopp. She was raised and educated in the Raleigh area. She attended St. Marys High School in New England graduating in May 1960. Virginia married Anton Tony Fergel on 4, 1961 at St. Gertrudes Catholic Church in Raleigh, ND. She went back to school obtaining her Bachelor degree in Social Work from the University of Mary graduating in May 1990. Virginia worked at the Prairie Learning from 1991 until her full retirement in 2015. Virginia and Tony had a farm and ranch operation west of Shields, ND for fifty years until retiring and moving to Mandan, ND in 2011. Throughout her years in the St. Gertrude, Raleigh area she was a member of the makers Club and was a 4-H leader for over 20 years. Virginia was very passionate about and worked for over 40 years in several positions for the ND Right to Life. She enjoyed reading, crocheting, playing cards and the marble board game. The years on the farm she kept a very large garden and spent much time cooking and baking many delicious favorites for her family and visitors. Virginia will be deeply missed by her seven children, Jacqueline Sanders, Bismarck, ND, Craig Fergel, Raleigh, ND, Judi Hurley, Bismarck, ND, Lisa (Brad) Schell, Shields, ND, Tamara (Joe) Homan, Bismarck, ND, Nicholas Fergel, Bloomington, IL and Audrey (Steve) Fergel-McKiver, Mandan, ND; 12 grandchildren, Chris Engelhorn, Travis Ryberg, SaCora Hopfauf, Jodi Homan, Morgan & Dylan Sabo, Mikaela & Elijah Sanders, Jarrod Hurley, Taryn and Ethan Fergel, Jordan Kasanke and 1 great-grandchild, Rocky Ryberg; brothers, Gerald (Patricia) Kopp, New Jersey and James (Alma) Kopp, New York. Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, Anton and Eva; husband, Tony; brothers, Fred and Patrick Kopp. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials to North Dakota Right to Life. |
