Obituary: Betty Jean Woods Freeze, affectionately known as Nana, 77 of Statesville, went home to be with her Lord on , 10, 2015 at Gordon Hospice House. Born in Virginia on 24, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Claude and Hattie Spence Woods. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Larry Joe Freeze, whom she married on 4, 1958; grandson, Jason Honeycutt; great-granddaughters, Gabriella Shane Gemes and Wylder Rae Chastain and one sister, Nancy Lee Woods. Mrs. Freeze graduated from Statesville Senior High School, worked at Iredell Memorial Hospital in the Physical Therapy Department and retired from Piedmont care, working in Medical Records. She was a member of Front Street Baptist Church and was a member of the Esther Perry School class, which she enjoyed being a part of, and she loved spending time with her great-grandchildren. Those left to cherish her memory are her two daughters, Cheryl (Robert) Chastain of McCalla, Alabama and Dee Dee (Scott) Mitcham of Statesville; one granddaughter, Kellie (Mitch) Kiser; two grandsons, Blake (Erica) Chastain and Caleb (Kelli) Chastain; and ten great-grandchildren, Joshua and Johnathan Benfield, Christian and Samuel Mitcham-Gemes, Allie Honeycutt, Gaby and Oliver Chastain, Stryker Chastain, Phenix Kiser and Chandler Wellman. The family will receive friends evening, 12, 2015 from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM at Bunch-Johnson . The service honoring Bettys life will be held , 13, 2015 at 4:00 PM at Front Street Baptist Church with Rev. Tim Stutts and Scott Mitcham officiating. Memorial donations may be made to Gordon Hospice House 2347 Simonton Road Statesville, NC 28625.
