Obituary: John Oliver Freeman, 82, of Morganton, passed away peacefully on 18, 2016 at Burke Hospice and Palliative . Mr. Freeman was born on 24, 1934 in Burke to the late John Henry Freeman and Lessie Williams Freeman. He was a United States Army Veteran, and was a retired Truck Driver. He was a member of Calvary Assembly of God in Morganton where he was active and enjoyed working in the church. He was an all around handy man, he was an avid hunter, and always enjoyed helping people. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife, Bobbie Jean Freeman; his brother, Jim Freeman; his sister, Blanche Phillips; brother-in-law, Charlie Phillips; step sons, Wayne and Roger Arthur; and a great-grandson, Preston Arthur. Survivors include his sister, Frances Queen and husband Floyd of Hudson; son, Johnny Freeman and wife Barbara of Lenoir; step-son, Lonnie Arthur of Asheville; grandchildren, Jason Freeman of Glen Alpine, Leslie Quick of Lenoir, Ashley Pope of Lenoir, Brandon Arthur and wife Brandi of Morganton, Kevin Arthur and wife Shelley of Morganton, Rachel Arthur of Tucson, AZ; his great-grandchildren, Issac Arthur, Mason Arthur, Bailey Arthur, Lorelai Quick, Jakob Beach, Sabella Quick, Austin Freeman, and Peyton Pope; a nephew, Wayne Freeman and wife Connie of Morganton; and a great niece, Tanna. Services will be held at 5:00 P.M. 21, 2016 at Calvary Assembly of God with Rev. George Crawford officiating. Interment will follow in the Calvary Assembly of God with military honors by the NC National Guard. The family will receive friends from 3:00-5:00 P.M. at Calvary Assembly of God in Morganton. Obituary: Mr. John Benson Johnny Freeman, age 89, passed away 9, 2014 at Carolinas Medical -Union in Monroe, NC. He was born 28, 1924, a son of the late Mr. Dock John Freeman and the late Mrs. Ethel Whitley Freeman. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his first wife: Dollie Bernice Stallings Freeman; one son: Gary Wayne Freeman; two birth sisters: Jean Freeman Price and Velma Freeman Burke; one step brother: Daniel Freeman; one niece: Mary Ann Burke Gowens; one uncle: William Whitley; one aunt: Helen Whitley; one sister: Evelyn Whitley Hargett. Mr. Freeman was raised by his Uncle William and Aunt Helen Garmon Whitley since age 6. He was considered their son along with their own birth children and continued to live with them after returning from World War II until he married. He was an original member of Friendship Masonic Lodge and a current member of the Charles M. Setzer Lodge. He was also a member of the Oasis Shrine Temple and the Oasis Red Fez Shrine Club. Mr. Freeman is survived by his wife: Jean Catoe Freeman; one son: John Eric Freeman; Step son: Roger L. Burgess; one step daughter: J. Burgess; three brothers: William Whitley, Jr., Paul E. Whitley and wife Vivian, Johnny L. Whitley and wife Brenda, all of Harrisburg, NC; three sisters: Margie Whitley Blackwelder of Harrisburg, NC, Nonia Whitley Polk and husband Jimmy of Mint Hill, NC, Linda Whitley Arrington of Concord, NC; two step brothers: Edwin Freeman and wife Ruth and David Freeman both of Charlotte, NC; three grandchildren: John Eric Freeman, Jr., Erica Freeman, Jenny Freeman; one step granddaughter: Sarah Anne Burgess who was he joy of his life; six great grandchildren. He is also survived by a host of other nieces, nephews, and cousins who loved him dearly from the Freeman and Whitley families, as well as other friends. The family will receive friends and relatives for visitation 13, 2014 from 11:00 AM until 12:45 PM at McEwen in Monroe. services to celebrate the life of Mr. Freeman will begin at 1:00 PM in the McEwen Colonial Chapel, conducted by Rev. Dr. Scott Simpson and Rev. Dr. Patti Simpson, with burial to follow with full military honors in the Sharon Memorial Park in Charlotte, NC. Obituary: Jodi, age 35, formerly of Charlotte and most recently from Monroe, NC, went home to glory on May 23, 2012 from Carolinas Medical . Jodi was born 29, 1976 to James Ed Freeman and Gladys Yount Freeman in Falls Church, VA. At age six, Jodi moved with her mother to Wheatland, WY. There she completed elementary, middle and high schools. graduation from high school she came to live with her father in Charlotte and attended CPCC and Gardner Webb University. Jodi worked hard; however, much of her spare time was spent scouring the area for bargains for her passion of interior decorating. When not doing that, she was caring for her dogs (her babies), Lexi, Luca, Chai Ling, Ming Ling and her two ferrets, Barrett and Abby. She had a natural ability for capturing the beauty around her in photographs for which we are truly thankful. Jodi was one of those fortunate persons with a bubbly personality and bright smile that could light up any room she walked into. She possessed a very passionate personality and a sharp intellect which made her a natural for her job as a Loss Prevention Specialist in retail organizations in Charlotte. Jodi also had an abundant energy that she shared with family and friends that she loved. Jodi will be greatly missed and always remembered by her family and friends including her dad, James; stepmom, Norma; sisters, Cora (Arnold), Angela and Jennifer; brothers, Jim (Michelle) and Jimmy; nephews, Corey and Conner; her maternal grandmother, Gladys; and her aunts, Sue, Ray and Alice Fay; as well as her cousins, Deana, John, Mark and Stephanie, Juanita, Lorraine, Sonny, Cherrae, Justin, Sophie and Jackie. A service to celebrate Jodis life will be held at 2:00 p.m. , May 28th in the chapel of Forest Lawn West . Her family will receive friends at the funeral home following the service.
