Obituary: Mrs. Shirley Sue Carpenter Fisher, age 82, of Claremont, NC, passed away peacefully on , 25, 2016. Born 1, 1934 in Catawba , NC, she was the daughter of the late Clarence Edward Carpenter and Cordie Nina Yount Carpenter. Shirley was an active member of St. Marks Lutheran Church in Claremont, NC where she was a member of the choir, altar guild, WELCA board of directors, blood mobile drive, and quilting mission. She was a former school teacher, costume designer for childrens programs, and former member of the handbell choir. Shirley retired from Pinnacle Furniture Co. where she had worked as supervisor. In addition to her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Clyde Eugene Boss Hog Fisher; sisters, Doris C. Wagner, Maxine C. Hovis and Ethel C. Tucker; and brother, David Dave Carpenter. Survivors include her daughter, Denise Fisher Arndt and husband, Gary, of Claremont, NC; brother, James Edward Jim Carpenter of Claremont, NC; numerous nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews; dear friend, Eva Cloninger; and her beloved cats, Fluffy and Marshmellow. A service of remembrance will be held at 3:00 PM on , 29, 2016 at St. Marks Lutheran Church with Rev. Gary Haddock and Rev. Paul Christ officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends evening at the church in the Family Life from 6:00 - 8:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to: St. Marks Lutheran Church, PO Box 550, Claremont, NC, 28610, or to Catawba Regional Hospice, 3975 Robinson Road, Newton, NC, 28658. Obituary: Ruth Forehand Fisher, 83, died at her home on 2, 2016. Mrs. Fisher was a native of Wayne and was the daughter of the late David A. Forehand and Ida Creech Forehand. Mrs. Fisher is survived by one daughter, Sandra Harrison (Darrell) of Greenville, one daughter-in-law, Wendy Fisher of New Bern, and one son, Michael Fisher (Patricia) of New Bern, two sisters, Ruby Braswell and Hazel Albert of Goldsboro, one brother, James "Buddy" Forehand of Goldsboro, seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren. She was predeceased by one son, Brian Fisher, one grandson, David Fisher, and two sisters, Doris Baker and Jane Johnson. A memorial service will be held on , 6th at 3:00 pm at the Riverdale United Methodist Church. Rev. Rusty Willis will be officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the memorial service. Following the service, a private family burial will be held at the Fisher Latham family cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in memory of Ruth Fisher may be made to Riverdale United Methodist Church or the charity of your choice. |
