Obituary: Patricia Louise Flesner passed away quietly in her sleep on 4, 2016 at the age of 91. Pat was born 31, 1924 in Colton, California the only daughter of Robert Ray Smith and Cecile Marie Smith (Cuyler). She grew up and went to school in Long Beach, California, graduating from Jordan High School in 1942. She was pretty, lively, outgoing and participated in many activities in school including giving the commencement speech at graduation. high school, she attended secretarial school and then went to work at the induction center at Fort MacArthur, San Pedro for the duration of WWII. When George Henry Flesner came home from the war after serving in the Army Air Corps for three years, he was visiting his sister in Long Beach when he recognized a girl he used to go to school with but never really knew very well. Their first date was 4, 1946 and they were married on 10, 1947. This coming they would have been married 70 years. George went to college earning a B.S. in electronic engineering degree while Pat worked. Shortly after George was hired by IBM, Pat became pregnant. Their first child, Linda Susan was born 14, 1952. She was followed by two more sisters, Diana Marie born 11, 1956 and Carla Rae born 2, 1965. Pat was active in PTA, Campfire Girls and any other activity her daughters were interested in. She cooked some signature dishes which were famous at potlucks and Georges fishing trips with his buddies. The family often vacationed in the eastern Sierras. continued to live in the house on Keever Avenue that had belonged to Pats parents and George continued to work for IBM until his retirement in 1986. bought some property just south of Minden-Gardnerville in Topaz Ranch Estates, put in a home and have lived there for the past 30 years. kept the area around their house natural and Mom was soon feeding the birds and rabbits. She was a member of the Sage Hens and a loyal supporter of the local EMTs and fire departments. She and George became well known at the Topaz Lake Lodge and other local restaurants where they would breakfast on weekend mornings. Two of their grandsons lived in Idaho and would spend several weeks each summer with their grandparents. would travel back to Massachusetts and Virginia to visit their other grandchildren. George took Pat on an Army Air Corps reunion trip to England where he was stationed during the war. Pats greatest talent was making and keeping friends. She was helpful and supportive when needed, she knew how to listen and ask just the right questions and how to be kind and sympathetic. She was fun to be with and honestly cared about everyone. She had lifelong friends from high school, the old neighborhood, from PTA and when she moved to Nevada, she soon had many friends here. She was born during the roaring twenties, lived through the depression, the Long Beach earthquake, WWII, the 60s, and everything since then. She saw incredible changes and always was able to adapt and grow. She was strong and spunky and an inspiration to everyone who knew her. In addition to her husband of 69 years, Pat is survived by her daughter Linda Flesner and grandson Christopher Stiles, both of Idaho, and her grandson Jonathon Stiles and great-granddaughter Isabelle of Washington; her daughter Diana (Ray) Shields, her granddaughter Jennifer (Ryan) Caulderon, and great-granddaughter Keira all of Virginia; and daughter Carla (Scott) Ferran of North Carolina, grandson Jason Willis, granddaughter Christine Willis and grandson Kyle (LuEva) Willis and great-grandsons Dexter and Silas, all of Massachusetts. Pats home is filled with photos and mementos of all of her family. This is her legacy and the love she showered on us all will be cherished by us forever. There will be no funeral services.
