Obituary: Thressa Marie Foster was born on 23, 1945, to the union of James and Millicent Weatherly in Little Rock, Arkansas. She departed this life, , 3, 2015, at home. She was preceded in death by her parents, son, Dwayne K. Washington, and sister, Glorian Marshall. Thressa attended Manual High School, graduating in 1963. Thressa worked for the City of Kansas City, Missouri from 1977 until she retired in 2003. retirement, she worked for Comfort Keepers, providing in home care for seniors and others needing assistance around the house. Thressa loved butterflies and ladybugs. She also enjoyed crocheting, listening to music, shopping, travelling and reading the Bible. Thressa joined the Beacon Light Seventh-day Adventist church in 1969, which later became the Linwood Blvd Seventh-day Adventist church in 1972. She held the following church offices: Primary Sabbath School Teacher, Assistant Sabbath School Secretary, Sabbath School Secretary, Usher, Deaconess and Head Deaconess. In 2011, Thressa transferred to the 3 Angels Seventh-day Adventist church. 2015, she transferred back to Linwood Blvd Seventh-day Adventist church where she was a faithful member until her passing. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends. She leaves to cherish her memory: two daughters, Rachel D. Thomas of St. Paul, Minnesota; Marva L. Foster of Kansas City, Missouri; siblings, Paul R. Murray, James Weatherly, Jr., Kay F. Weatherly, Clifford J. Griffin, Jr. and Pamella R. Phillips (Marvin) all of Kansas City, Missouri; three grandsons, JarVaughn D. Washington, Minneapolis, Minnesota; Perry L. Thomas, Jr. and Marvin J. A. Thomas, St. Paul, Minnesota; two great grandsons, JarVaughn D. Washington, Jr. and TreVaughn Washington Minneapolis, Minnesota; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. Visitation will be 11:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m., , 15 with services to follow at Linwood Boulevard Seventh-day Adventist Temple, 4300 E. Linwood Boulevard, Kansas City, Missouri 64128. Burial at Mount Moriah South, 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, Missouri 64131. |
