Obituary: Mary A. (Power) Foster, 74, died unexpectedly at the Caritas Good Samaritan Medical in Brockton on , 16. She was the wife of Joseph T. Foster of 49 years. Born in Stoughton, she was a lifelong resident of Stoughton and a graduate of Stoughton High School, Class of 1951. Mrs. Foster was a secretary at Stoughton Town Hall for 45 years before retiring in 1995. She was active with the Stoughton Council on Aging and a former member of the Stoughton Irish American Society. She was also active with St. Vincent de Paul Society in Stoughton. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Foster is survived by several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother, William Power. will be held from the Farley , 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) Stoughton on , 20 at 9:30 AM followed by a Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Stoughton at 10:30 AM. Obituary: Mary Lou Foster, nee Gregory, of East Orleans, Massachusetts, passed away in her sleep at Harbor Point Assisted Living on the morning of 7th. Mary Lou was born on 23rd, 1932, in Ironwood, Michigan as the eldest child of Della Sobolewski and Louis Gregory. She attended St. Ambrose High School where she was prom queen. She studied english at the University of Michigan where she met her late husband, Caxton Croxford Foster. lived in Ann Arbor and Akron before settling in Amherst, Massachusetts for 20 years. moved permanently to East Orleans in 1985. Mary Lou also earned her Masters in Special Education from the University of Massachusetts and helped many children with learning difficulties learn how to read. Mary Lou had a great passion for living and engaged in many hobbies including quilt making, knitting, embroidery, gardening, swimming, ice skating, cross country skiing, reading and listening to opera. She was especially fond of making jam with wild berries, bluebirds, roses and the wild flower jack-in-the-pulpit. She had a great wit and was an excellent companion. She was supremely brave and strong. She will be sorely missed but we are happy for her to be relieved from the mists of dementia and to be reunited with those she loved and lost in her long and rich life. She is survived by her three children and their families: Ann, married to Peter Van Dyck with sons Maxwell and Jackson, Greg, married to Sue Duncan, and Prudence, married to Michael Walter with sons Dakota and . We remember wild berry picking, playing bridge, rook, cribbage and scrabble, ice skating on home made rinks, doing crafts, cookouts at Nauset, the Caribbean, making Ukrainian Easter eggs and blueberry pies. Also surviving are her step children Nedra Hecker, nee Foster, and Alex Foster and their families, her brother Frank Gregory and his wife Greta, her late brother Lou's wife Lois and her nephew Steve and her nieces Nan, Paula (Mary Lou's god daughter) Vicky, Merideth and Janifer. She will be buried with her late husband, Caxton, in a private ceremony in East Orleans. |

Obituary: Leon L. Foster, a lifelong Needham resident died on , 3, 2016 at the Tippet House in Needham. He was 82 years old. Leon was the son of the late Leon Laroy and Hattie (Kaye) Foster of Needham. He was a graduate of Lexington Christian Academy and served in the Army following graduation. Upon leaving the Army, he returned to Needham and began working at the Instrumentation Laboratory of MIT, later renamed C.S. Draper Laboratory, in Cambridge. It was at IL that he met his wife Beverly. He retired from Draper following 32 years of service as a purchasing agent. Leon was also proud to have been an specialauxiliary police officer in Needham, often working the McDonalds police detail on the weekends back in the 1980s and volunteering his time on the 4th parade route. More recently he continued his wifes legacy by holding a seat on the Needham Commission on Disability. When he was home and the weather was good, he could be found holding court with his wonderful neighbors on the bench Beverly had placed near her gardens in the front yard. He was the beloved husband of the late Beverly M. (Fulton) Foster, father of the late Vicki and her husband Stan Hoffman of Issaquah, WA and Steven and his wife Teresa (Miano) Foster of Norfolk, MA, and grandfather of Ashley, Kyle, Stephanie and Andrew. A funeral service will be held on Sat 9th at 1 PM at the Eaton 1351 Highland Ave Needham. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. A visiting hour will be prior to the service from Noon to 1 PM. Obituary: East Dennis, MA - Dr. Kendall W. Foster, Jr. M.D., 80, passed away , 1, 2010 at his home in East Dennis, MA after succumbing to cancer. He is survived by his loving wife Sally Robertson Foster, married 1954 in Marion, PA.; four children Betsy Driscoll, Robert Foster, Sarah McKenna, and Mary LaMere; son-in-laws Michael Driscoll, Victor McKenna, and Gary LaMere; and grandchildren Sean Driscoll, Hannah LaMere, Marissa LaMere, Richard McKenna, and Lucas McKenna. Dr. Foster was born in Boston, Massachusetts in 1930 and was a board certified Radiologist. He attended Lawrence Academy, Groton, MA; Tufts University, Boston, MA; and Tufts Medical School. He met his wife Sally at a Zoology Class at Woods Hole Marine Biological Laboratory in Woods Hole, MA in 1952. His medical Internship was at Maine Medical , Portland, ME in 1957. His residency was at Walter Reed Medical in Bethesda, MD. He was a Radiologist at New Britain General Hospital, New Britain, CT, and an Associate Professor Emeritus in Diagnostic Radiology at Michigan State University Dept. of Radiology in East Lansing, MI until his retirement in 1995. During his time at MSU he was also a Radiologist at St. Lawrence Hospital and Sparrow Hospital, Lansing, MI with specialties in XRay, Mammography, Ultrasound, CAT, and MRI. Dr. Foster entered the United States Army Medical Corps in 1958 and was honorably discharged in 1967 after achieving a rank of Lieutenant Colonel. He served 14 months in AnKhe, Vietnam. During his time in the Army the family lived in Germany, Maryland, and Colorado, places they might otherwise never have seen. He had a great love of nature and the outdoors which included sailing, boating, bird watching, photography, fly fishing, skiing, and hiking. His father was a Science teacher at the Groton School in Groton, MA. Dr. Foster, Jr. learned much of his appreciation for the outdoors from his father, Dr. Foster, Sr. Some of his fondest memories were of his childhood summers on Cape Cod spent with his cousins and family. As a retiree on Cape Cod, he and his wife walked through many nature preserves and were seen in their parked van watching the osprey nest in Sesuit Harbor every spring. He felt closer to God when in the natural world. Football and baseball were his favorite sports, being a big fan of the MSU Spartans, New England Patriots, and Boston Red Sox. A visitation service for family and friends is being planned for sometime around Thanksgiving 2010. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Obituary: Kathleen Ellen (Dowling) Foster, age 72 years, died in the Norwood Hospital on , 9, 2013. Born in Boston, Massachusetts on 3, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Edward A. and Catherine J. (Donovan) Dowling. She graduated from Cardinal Cushing High School with the class of 1958 and went on to graduate from the Boston Clerical School with the class of 1959. Ellen has been a resident of Walpole, Massachusetts for the past 40 years, moving from Roslindale. She was a homemaker for all of her adult life, raising and caring for her family. Ellen was a member of the Early Bird Bowling League in East Walpole, the Blessed Sacrament Church Choir for over 30 years, and The Breakfast Club. As an avid square dancer, she served as the treasurer of the Do-Si-Doers Square Dance Club. She was a talented knitter, and made baby sweater sets, as well as, clothing for the American Girl Dolls. Ellen enjoyed playing solitaire and traveling, especially to Ireland and Cape Cod. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family, especially her granddaughters. Beloved wife of 51 years of Ronald J. Foster. Loving mother of Donna-Marie Hennessy and her husband Edward of Medford and Denise Vierra and her husband Timothy of Attleboro. Cherished grandmother of Kaitlyn, Kylie, and Maureen. Sister of Edward A. Dowling of Buzzards Bay and the late Joanne M. Dowling. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. Born and raised in Stoughton, he was a graduate of Stoughton High School, Class of 1948. Mr. Foster was a Veteran of the US Air Force. He worked as an assembler for Masoneilan in Norwood and Canton for over 30 years, retiring in 1993. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Irish American Society, both in Stoughton as well as the Stoughton Senior Serenaders and the SPEBSQSA Barbershop Quartet Society. An avid Red Sox Fan, in his free time, he enjoyed singing and exercising. He is survived by his brother F. Leo Foster of Stoughton and was predeceased by his siblings, Rita Baldwin, Helen Stewart, Margaret Danahy, Eileen LaCivita, Edgar G. Foster, Jr. and Mary Bartels.
