Obituary: under the direction of Richardson-Gaffey , Scituate, MA. Robert "Bob" Joseph Flynn, of Scituate, died peacefully at the age of 79 on 15, 2010. Born and raised in Newton, Bob graduated from St. Marys High School of Waltham and Boston s night school, class of 1954. He met his late wife, Mary Alice Hughes Flynn while summering at Brandt Rock in Marshfield. married in 1958 and raised a family in Scituate and in Darien, CT. His career as a government bond broker spanned three decades. Retiring at the age of 53, Bob dedicated himself to supporting the sports programs at Darien HS, eventually becoming the President of the local "Boosters Club". He and his wife wintered in Pompano Beach, FL for several years before her death in 1999. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends as well as being an avid golfer and sharp bridge player. Bob followed the markets almost his entire adult life and imparted this affinity and interest to several of his children. He was a great story-teller. He will be sadly missed and forever loved by all who knew him. Beloved husband of the late Mary Alice (Hughes) Flynn. He is survived by his five devoted children: Sheilagh D. Flynn and husband, Andrew Lederman of Lakeville, MA; Carolyn Flynn of Ames, IA; Christopher R. Flynn, and wife, Maureen of New York City; Robert "Jack" Flynn and wife, Gina of Westport, CT; and Hillary Flynn and partner, Eduardo de Oliveira, of Mill Valley, CA. Loving brother to Kathleen (Kay) Gates of Scituate, Joan Hersom of Marlboro, Eileen DiPalma of Natick and the late Lawrence Flynn who died in infancy. Devoted grandfather of Kelley, Matthew, Aidan, Siobhan, and Catherine. Also survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews. Visiting hours will be held at the Richardson-Gaffey at 382 First Parish Road in Scituate, MA on from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm. from the Richardson-Gaffey , 382 First Parish Rd., Scituate on 20th at 9AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary of the Nativity Church, Scituate at 10AM. Interment in St. Marys . Visiting hours will be on from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM. In lieu of flowers, remembrances in Bobs name my be made to the Crossroads Irish-American Festival, c/o Intersection for the Arts, 446 Valencia Street, SF, CA 94103. Obituary: Flynn, of Marshfield, 20th, Robert Clifford 82. Beloved husband of Gladys (Roberts) Flynn. Father of Timothy E. Flynn of Marshfield, James C. Flynn of St. Petersburg, FL, Kathleen Randall of Wareham and Pamela Johnson of Duxbury. Brother of Russell Flynn of Norfolk, Mrs. George (Esther) Harley of FL, Mrs. Andrew (Barbara) Piver of CT and Sally Robsham of Cape Cod and the late Carleton Flynn. He also leaves 4 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Born in Guilford, CT, he was the son of the late Herbert and Hazel (Dolph) Flynn. During WWII he served in US Navy on board the destroyer escort USS FOGG in the North Atlantic and the Naval training center at Newport, RI. He enlisted in the US Coast Guard and served on board the Cutters HUMBOLDT, EVERGREEN, UNIMAK, YAKUTAT, CASTLE ROCK and ESCANABA manning the North Atlantic International weather stations, participating in many rescue operations saving numerous lives while engaged in that mission. He was the Senior Chief Radioman attached to CG Radio Boston located in Marshfield prior to his retirement from that service in 1967, and since then for many years operated his lobsterboat GLADYS M from the South River, Marshfield. Ham Radio Operator W1NMF ? ardent. He was a lifetime member of the VFW Daniel Webster Post #8345, life member, Samoset Chapter Royal Arch, member of the Marshfield Rod and Gun Club, Coast Guard Chief Petty Officers Assoc, Cornerstone Masonic Lodge, Mass and South Shore Lobstermen?s Assoc. A Graveside Service will be held on , 30th at 10 o?clock at the Massachusetts National in Bourne. There are no visiting hours.
