His parents settled in what was known as Salems Little Italy after immigrating to the US from Sicily. He was the fourth of six children and predeceased by all of them. He had two sisters, Stefena (Femino) Corigliano and Grace Femino, both of Salem, as well as three brothers, Peter Femino of Salem, Salvatore Smokey Femino of Lynn and John Femino of Cathedral City, CA. Frank was educated in the Salem School system and graduated from Salem High in 1933. Like his father, he had a natural musical ability. Frank learned to play five different instruments. He would often accompany his brother Peter, an accomplished trumpeter, on guitar and mandolin. During the Depression of the 1930s, Frank found factory work in Newburyport, as well as government WPA and NYA jobs. Frank married Madeline, who was born and raised in Bostons North End, in 1958. The couple had one son and shared over 43 years of marriage until her passing in 2002. In 1961, after briefly living in Lynn, Frank and his family settled in his beloved Little Italy neighborhood. Family was most important in his life. A devoted husband and father, he was extremely generous to his family and friends. He always had time to help those he cared about. In his spare time, Frank enjoyed working on his house, crosswords, playing cards at the club, the beach, dancing, entertaining with his mandolin and watching the Boston Red Sox. He was one of those rare New Englanders alive for their 1916 and 1918 World Championships, as well as their recent ones.
