Obituary: Jorge Luis ("Pichi") Ferrer passed away peacefully at his Algiers home on 1, 2016. Son of the late Alberto Luis Ferrer, Sr. and Olga Lopez Ferrer, Jorge was a native of Havana, Cuba and a resident of New Orleans for 55 years. In 1961, Jorge legally immigrated to the United States of America with his family after the oppressive communist government of Fidel Castro and his revolutionaries took over Cuba. In 1971 he met his great love, Sue, whom he wed at Holy Name of Jesus Church in 1974 and with whom he would share life for the next 42 years. Jorge was Vice-President and Senior Traveling Officer for the International Department of Whitney National Bank. Upon his departure from Whitney, Jorge pursued other business ventures until his health started to decline in 2012. Two months after his retirement, he was diagnosed with ALS, which he battled until his passing. Preceded in death by his parents, Jorge is survived by his wife Sue LeBlanc Ferrer; his brother Alberto Luis Ferrer, Jr. (Maria); his sister S. Maria Elena Ferrer-Lopez, SSND; and sisters-in-law Ann Hastings LeBlanc, Janet LeBlanc Domino (Mike), and Beth LeBlanc (Susan). He also leaves behind to cherish his memory his "Dos Amigo" Jim Huey, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and friends. There are so many people to whom we wish to express our heartfelt gratitude, first among them family members and friends who went out of their way to demonstrate love and support throughout this journey. We are also deeply thankful for the efforts of the doctors, therapists, administrators and nurses at the LSU MDA/ALS Clinic-in particular Drs. Amy Gutierrez and Stephen Kantrow. The assistance of Access Respiratory (especially Anna Campo) and of the staff at Mr. Wheelchair (particularly Sean and James) has been invaluable. And we are indebted to the nurses, therapists, and staff of STAT and St. Joseph Hospice, as well as Jorge's caregiver Jay Jay Jacobs. It was Jorge's particular request that all who mourn his loss pray for ALS patients and their families whose journeys continue. Per his wish, a private burial has been held. Carvin Osburn Ferrell was born May 9, 1928 at Jones, Louisiana to the late Henry W. Ferrell and Effie Corine Manning Ferrell. He passed away peacefully 26, 2015 at Morehouse General Hospital following a brief illness. Mr. Ferrell was a veteran of the United States Army and he retired from both the Morehouse Parish Highway Department and North American Coal Corporation in Longview, Texas. He will be remembered for his longtime passion of growing tomatoes and watermelons. Mr. Ferrell is preceded in death by his parents; his son, Carlton Ferrell; two brothers, Henry W. Ferrell, Jr. and Henry Hank Ferrell; and four sisters, Neil Hammond, Effie Mae DeDe Conley, Wanda Milleren, and Patsy Lusby. He is survived by his wife of sixty-seven years, Mary Lou Ferrell of Bastrop; his two daughters, Martha Adcock and Gracie Dampier and her husband, Cordell Dampier, Jr., all of Bastrop, Louisiana; his sister, Joyce Johnson of Bastrop, Louisiana; a brother, Richard Ferrell of Citrus Heights, California; six grandchildren, LaDale Collins and her husband, Brett Collins of Crossett, Arkansas, Janell Coody of Bastrop, Louisiana, Jonathan Coody of Bastrop, Louisiana, Shane Ferrell and his wife, Julie Ferrell of Dickinson, Texas, Shaun Ferrell of Ocean Beach, California, and Trey Dampier and his wife, Charlie Dampier of Bastrop, Louisiana; eight great-grandchildren, Sara Collins, Ashley Ferrell, Haley Ferrell, Hunter Coody, Dylan Coody, Bentlie Coody, Lane Coody, and Caden Dampier; and numerous nieces and nephews. Obituary: services celebrating the life of Rosella Rosie Still Ferreira will be held , 12, 2014, at 11:00 AM at The Crossing Place Fellowship in Franklin. She will be laid to rest in the Franklin . Pastors Donnie Crane and Brad Bullock will conduct the services. A gathering of family and friends will begin at 9:00 AM at the church and continue until time of service. Rosie was a native of Charleston, South Carolina who travelled extensively with her husband during his career in the US Coast Guard. Her passion in life was golf, of which she was very good, having been club champion for over 15 years. She even had three Hole-in-ones. To be near family following the death of her husband, Rosie moved to Verdunville, where she has resided for the past six years. She passed away at the age of 100 years on , 9, 2014, at her home. Survivors include one brother, Harley Still; nieces and nephews, Marie Dayton, Anne Mosher, Peggy Mangum, Missy Dupre, and Buddy Magoun; as well as numerous other nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, George T. Ferreira; her parents, Elisha and Zilpha Harley Still; and four sisters, Nell Cooper, Caroline Corbitt, Willie Sears, and Lois Rovolis. Obituary: Born 29, 1920, in Baton Rouge on Main St. at the home of her then grandparents Frank and Ada Kretz Vignes and died, 5, 2014. She graduated from University High in 1936, and then from LSU 1940. She was one of the staff hired for the newly formed LSU Flying School. Her first husband, James Bennett learned to fly there and went to train Air Force cadets and on to a captain for Pan American Airways. Then got to live and visit many parts of the world both East and West. She spoke fluent Spanish and also had her private pilots license. While living in New York she posed for an artist who painted covers for Bantam Books and her face was on the cover of five or six books. In 1980 she returned to Baton Rouge, settled in Watson and worked for the old First National Bank of Denham Springs and met many co-workers who became much needed friends. In 1986 she remarried and moved to West Texas and returned as a widow in 1996. By then in her seventies she worked for a talent agency, auditioned for and made several commercials, on OLOL and another for Popeyes chicken filmed on the street of the New Orleans French Quarter. She continued in the work into her eighties. Survived by a loving son, Evan J. Bennett , a daughter Susan L. Bennett, three step-children, Barbara, Lynn and Dan, daughter-in-law, Janiene Bennett, two grandchildren and four great grandchildren. A nephew Skipper Johnson and his late wife Doris. She leaves a special loving friend, John Rickets, other friends, Melodye Murphy, Bette Houck, Maria Palocios, Kathy Matherne, Jim Gordon, Nita Miller, Randy Brooks and Betty Morrison of Nashville, TN. Preceded in death by husband Frank Ferree, son Jeffery Bennett, grandson Hal Bushnell and ex-husband, James Bennett. She was the daughter of E.C. and Ruth Vignes Jefferson, granddaughter of Frank and Ada Vignes and Florence and O.C. Jefferson, Jr., granddaughter of Louis and Anna Kretz. Graveside services will be held on , 9, 2014 at 10:30am in Magnolia conducted by Kathy Matherne. In lieu of flowers please donate to the Denham Springs animal cat shelter.
