Obituary: John E. Fowler, Age 79 of Shepherdsville, returned to his Heavenly Father 16, 2017. Mr. Fowler was born in Andulisa, Alabama on 10, 1937 to John William and Lena Bell Hardy Fowler. He was a retired U.S. Navy Chief Petty Officer and worked on aircraft carriers. He was awarded the Purple Heart for his selfless service to our country. retiring for the military, Mr. Fowler retired from Twin Lakes Regional Medical where he worked for 20 years as their chief engineer. He was a deacon for Caneyville Baptist Church for 20 years before relocating and became a member of Bardstown Junction Baptist Church. Mr. Fowler loved his horses and rode rodeo bucking broncos and brahma bulls. He also loved his yard and his flowers. He had the most beautiful yard in the neighborhood. He always made sure the curbs and landscaping were impeccable. Mr. Fowler never met a stranger, he had many friends. He was a very compassionate man, he was loved by everyone who had the pleasure of meeting him. Of all the things he loved; Mr. Fowler loved his family the most. He was a loving husband to Betty Jean who he has known since she was eight years old, a devoted and loving father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend. He is preceded in death by his parents, one brother and 2 sisters. Mr. Fowler leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of almost 60 years, Betty Jean; children, Pam Fowler, John Keith Fowler (Lisa), Tammy Simon (Philip), and Jim Fowler (Lisa); 5 grandchildren, Philip Simon II, Brandi Knapper (Mike), Amanda Derossett (Aarron), Misty Breedlove, and Chris Haun; 3 great grandchildren, Kellan and Ryann Knapper, and Tygh Derossett; 2 young men who called him Grandpa, Thomas and Chris Lane; special friends Sonny, James, Jess, and Tinki; and a whole host of other family and friends. service will be conducted at 2:00 pm , 21, 2017, in the chapel of Schoppenhorst, Underwood and Brooks by Shawn Majors, (4895 N. Preston Hwy. at Brooks rd.) with burial to follow at Brookland . Friends may pay their respects , 20, 2017 from 2:00 to 8:00pm and on from 10:00 am until time of service.
