Obituary: John Henry Flowers, age 91, of Summitt St., Cartersville, Georgia, passed away , 4, 2015 at Cartersville Medical . Mr. Flowers was born on 14, 1923 in Bartow , Georgia, son of the late Rev. Grady George Flowers and Stella Mae Stephenson Flowers. He was a retired Service Station Operator and had a Fruit Stand. He was a member of the Church at Liberty Square. He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers, Robert Austin Flowers and Dayton Ohio Flowers; grandson, Richard Blake Cowart; and a great-granddaughter, Journey Ann Cowart. Survivors include his wife, Betty Cagle Flowers; 2 children, Barbara Flowers Cowart and Johnette Flowers Stewart and husband Junior all of Cartersville; grandchildren, Todd Cowart, MaryJohn & Tony Chapman, Johnny Tab Abernathy all of Cartersville, Dr. Ty Abernathy of Starkville, Miss.; great-grandchildren, Mandi Cowart, Cam Cowart, Karlie Cowart, Anna Grace Chapman, Tennessee Skye Abernathy all of Cartersville; great-great-grandchildren, Eli Billet, Ali DeFord, Charlie Blake Cowart Gravely. services will be conducted , 7th at 12:oo P.M. at the Church at Liberty Square with Pastor Joe Edwards officiating. Obituary: Mr. Jimmy Curtis Jim Flowers, Sr., 62, died night ( 29, 2014) at Mayo Clinic Systems of Waycross after an extended illness. He was a native of Statesboro, but he lived most of his life in Waycross. In 1971, he graduated from high school in Florence, SC. several years of service, he retired from CSX Railroad as a carmen. He is the son of the late Curtis Oliver Flowers and Lillie Mae Strickland Cade. Survivors include three children, Heidi L. Flowers of Waycross, Jimmy Curtis Flowers, Jr. (Christy) of Blackshear, and Heather Miller (Jason) of Waycross; the mother of his children, Jackie Flowers of Waycross; two grandchildren, Nolan B. Flowers and Brianna L. Flowers; two brothers, Jack L. Cade (Teresa) of Doyle, TN, and Louie A. Cade, Jr. (Lori) of Waycross; one sister, Teresa Flowers of Sanford, FL; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives whom he dearly loved. Obituary: Harry Nicks Flowers, 98, died peacefully on , 10, 2016 at his home in Peachtree City, Georgia. He was the son of Grover Curl Flowers and Maggie E. Hickman Flowers of Hickman , Tennessee and grew up in ville, Tennessee. He was married to Opal Johnson Flowers of Peachtree City for more than 60 wonderful years together. Harry had a productive and interesting life. He left home in the mid 1930's to work for the Civilian Conversation Corps. In 1938, he joined the army and served for 20 years attaining the rank of Master Sergeant before retiring in 1958. He then began work for the Federal Reserve Bank in Atlanta and retired after 20 years in 1979. While working for the Bank, Harry began another career in the property purchasing, sales, rental and lending business in the south Atlanta metro area, which continued until his death. Harry was also a founding member of Sandtown Baptist Church and a 33rd degree mason, Atlanta Peachtree Lodge. Harry and Opal were longtime residents of southwest Atlanta until 1988 when Opal and he moved to Peachtree City. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, brothers, Fred Moore Flowers, Luther McClanahan Flowers and Fate Turner Flowers; sisters, Mary Tom Flowers and Johnnie Sue Flowers; nephew, Paul Lee Flowers and Niece, Annie Sue Ruff; grand-nephews, Jimmy Ray Ruff and Wesley Grant Ruff, II. He is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Billy and Amy Flowers of ville, Tennessee; his sisters, Annie Ruth Brown, of Ocala, Florida and Mary Louise Goins of Dickson, Tennessee; nephews, Jimmy Ray Flowers of Tullahoma, Tennessee and Larry Ford Barnes of Hiawassee, Georgia; niece, Helen Jeanette Toth of Southgate, Michigan; grand-nephews, Steven Wayne Flowers of Brown City, Michigan and Darrell Gene Flowers of Lakeland, Florida; grand-nieces, Pauletta Marice Feider and Gail Annette Anderson of Lakeland, Florida, Athena Lei Johnson of Dearborn, Michigan and Ginger Lynn DeBerry of Monroe, Michigan; and great-grand-niece, Charity Marie Bukowski of Blythewood, South Carolina. Visitation will take place from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., , 13, 2016 at Carmichael-Hemperley Chapel followed by funeral services at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel with Rev. Darwin Caldwell officiating. Interment will be at Westview , Atlanta, Georgia at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The Georgia Baptist Children's s and Family Ministries, Inc., Palmetto, Georgia and The Georgia Masonic Endowment Fund, Macon, Georgia. |
