Obituary: ELLENBACK, Virginia J. Goodin, 92, entered into rest on 13, 2017, in her home of 51 yrs, Casselberry, FL surrounded by loving friends. Born Etta Virginia Jackson in 1/27/1924, Jonesborough, TN - Only girl to William H. Jackson B.01/01/1900- D. 1985 and Mary Edith(Mohler) Jackson D. 2000, a 4th cousin to Pres Andrew Jackson, she worked while in college, on the Manhattan Project in Oak Ridge, TN and in 1948, for Pontiac Motors, GMC office in Pontiac, MI. Attended East Tennessee State University and Stetson University, Class of 1956- While majoring in Secretarial & Business, teaching was her goal. She Married C. Gooden 1945. 2 children, Virginia returned to school, obtaining her Master’s Degree, majoring in Higher Business, Secretarial & Teaching. She moved to FL in mid 60s with her parents, working & continuing her education - obtaining her Master’s Degree in 1973. 30 years of teaching, she retired to care for her husband, Floyd (cancer) who preceded her in death in 1987. As well as assisting her children thru life. Besides parents, Virginia was preceded in death by her Brother Larry Jackson of Colorado B1924- D2012, Brother Nathan Jackson, B1932 - D1953 at sea, aboard USN battle ship. Son, James Lee Goodin, B1949- D2008 FL and *Daughter, Edith Faye Goodin, B1952 -D2016 FL. Virginia lived to "Teach". She taught School & piano - As a highly honored school teacher, she taught Typing - English - Spelling & History. (Even after retirement, the proper use of language meant allot to her) She was active in the Baptist Student Union while attending college & raising her children. She was active in her Churches, the last being Starlight Baptist Church and was a multiple charity yearly donor to Orlando Rescue Mission, Donald E. Moody Legacy, American Cancer Society, State and Local Fraternal Order of Police and Firefighter’s Association, as well as anyone in need. She is survived by her loving niece, Lisa Dhuy and family of Colorado & 2 nephews, as well as step children and step grandchildren(from her husband Floyd) She considered her "Church" & close friends as her only family in FL, and to the Roy Family, Tom, Nick, Marilyn, and Cricket, her closet friends & caretakers of 23 years, she was “Mother” and “Grandma”, nothing less. Virginia will be Greatly missed by family and friends who loved her unconditionally. Visitation will be held at the Starlight Baptist Church, 350 Hayes Rd., Winter Springs, FL 32708 from 1-2 pm with a service to follow at 2 pm on , 28, 2017. Interment will be in All Faiths Memorial Park. |
